Nerd Hook Up Thread

Yep, there's not an inch of my condo that doesn't have something nerdy going on.

Now if I could just just get another nerd in here it would be complete, lol.

I would come for a visit, but I'm quite a bit a distance away, lol.

It's going to be an entertainment room essentially with the ability to be a guest room if needed (futon).

I'll be rotating in the 32 inch flat screen in my living room when I buy a bigger one for my living room. Then I'll hook up all my gaming systems, set up some comfy seating. There will be a small fold away table along with all my table top and card games for any game nights. Also a mini-fridge stocked for any gaming related events.

Currently I don't plan for the Mario theme to come off the walls and my pre-existing nerdy/gaming related pictures will be going back up as well at this point. Everything is also designed in case I decide to move any pictures or rearrange furniture in the room. So there won't be any wasted space, but an interesting scene change if things move.
Sumo chairs, i hear, make for great gaming chairs

I haven't watched it yet, I usually watch the full season once it pops up on Netflix, but I think I'll have to actually keep up this season.

It's a little harder to track down episodes than it used to be, but still not that bad. It seems like you have to be a little more on the ball about getting them shortly after they air, because sites are taking requests to remove copyrighted material more seriously and doing it pretty quickly.

... They sell them on Amazon for $2 for streaming video, not exactly going to break my bank vs digging through the Internet to save a couple bucks :)

Digging through the internet isn't that hard if you know where to look. ;)

lol Yea, but I'm spoiled, I'll pay the $2 to stream it through my PS3 in HD on my big TV :cattail: instead of poking around on the net. I'd rather spend my free time poking other things instead ;)

I'm trying to wrap up last season on Dr. Who now (only started watching for the first time via Netflix a few months back) and I DVR'd the premier last night. Since they're running them in batches of five eps at a time this year, I figure I'll DVR five, watch them, then wait for the next batch.

Last ep I watched was "Let's Kill Hitler." Hi-larious but after thinking about it, it isn't sitting well with me considering the absolute pure awesome that was the prior ep "A Good Man Goes to War." That was a corker of an ep start to finish and continuing the story with a "oh yeah, this happened" in the opening struck me as a disservice to every major issue they'd just raised. But that's me.

I dunno, Doctor Who swings between deadly serious and off the wall wacky so much that I just enjoy each episode for what it is.

Question is would you have felt the same way if you'd had a week between the episodes instead of being able to watch them back to back?

Sometimes I find when watching something on Netflix or DVD, I lose a sense of time the writers and stories expect you to have between shows when they're on TV vs instantly available back to back. Sometimes the stories expect you to take a breather, relax, and digest them before they hop into the next one, but when you watch them continuously you don't get that and sometimes it can cause a disconnect or can confuse when you try to pull the feel of a previous episode into the next.

Not in this case because they baited a massive hook with the reveal at the end of "War," then the entirety of the opening was basically running through "oh you DID actually see X do X as you were growing up." Moving on to the episode! Just felt like a cheat considering how intelligently the series handles heavy questions and major events. For example, note the callback during the previous season's finale to the angel's ep where Amy couldn't see.

Like I said, it might have just been me but I felt the Hitler ep was a fun one to be sure (especially how they handle the man himself) but that it was a letdown considering the epic win of the preceding episode.

Well I'll take your word for it, been several months since I watched the episodes so my observations were more general than anything else :)

Fair enough. Also stay off twitter and basically the interwebs. Dr. Who spoilers are flowing freely. Just fair warning. :)

If things work right, 10 minutes to download, and I have it in HD, ready to stream to my TV. :cattail:

You can't draw out one intricately woven, overarching storyline into an entire season. Usually they have Steven Moffat write the first and last few episodes that set up and then resolve the overarching storyline which is the background of all the episodes, but you still need filler.

Agreed, but I think they dropped the ball on a subject which should have been handled far better than essentially making it a joke. I also find it endlessly funny how careful we have to be on this due to not wanting to spoil it for anyone else. ;)
