Nerd Hook Up Thread

I made this thread for two reasons.

1. For people (nerds and non-nerds) to discover and explore each other. I'm sure the jock-type has always had a secret fantasy about the book-type. Unfortunately, this rings less true for women seeking men, but I think I'm the exception to that rule. This also includes nerd-on-nerd love.

2. I'm currently seeking on my own real-life nerd to love. You might know about it if you've followed my posts. Long story short, I'm the "beauty" and he's the "brains". Of course, I'm not a ditz and he's a not an Urkel, but let's say in my younger years, we wouldn't be in the same social circle. So I'm hoping discussions in this thread will help me become familiar with that "world".

I guess to get this thread rolling, tell me what you're nerdy about. Hmm, in honor of Halloween, I can reveal that I have a thing for the zombie apocalypse. I didn't want to say that I had a thing for zombies because that would make me sound like a necro, which I most definitely am not.

Interesting thread.

I am way more nerdy at heart then I show. I played guitar in a band for a lot of years, songwriter, but inside is really a geek. Love a good horror movie if I have someone to watch them with. Makes them more fun that way when there is something to make fun of and you are not the only one hearing your crappy jokes. Also love radio. Growing up I didn't get to watch much tv so radio was my fall back. I would scan the AM radio dial at night and see how far I could pick up a station from. Kind of like traveling around the country without having to leave. I still do that on nights I can't sleep. Hopefully if this thread goes more and more I will reveal more and more. But for now the rest remains steeped in mystery...

I'm assuming he would figure it out from the call sign of the station (or the station might state both call sign and location).

Hmmm favorite scary movie? Way to make me think like that. hahaha. Depends on my mood really. Some days you can just have fun watching an all out gore flick like Saw or The Descent. And some days you just want to have something more of a thinking horror movie like Silence of the lambs. All depends on the mood and what ever the people around me can handle.

The AM radio thing you just listen long enough to hear them mention either call letters then look that up online or you hear them mention a city. Living in Ohio where I am I have picked up stations as far west as Iowa and south as either Florida or Louisiana. Sometimes I tune a station from back home in Rochester, NY just to hear a familiar voice. Don't know if that's geeky or lonely though...

Their ability to throw out random facts and figures as it relates to conversation and often to turn a conversation away from something uncomfortable is so flipping cute. Um, they lack douchebaggery which so many non nerdy men possess. While they aren't confident about many things they're confident in their minds which is sexier than any muscle Ive ever seen They aspire for things that fascinate them, they aren't scared to know, to dig for further truths......they're fuckawesome indeed.

I was a MAJOR nerd in middle school -- boxy haircut, pencil protector, my best friend carried around a slide rule, and all I talked about and read were comic books. Now, my nerdness has been tempered, but my students (I'm an English teacher) think I'm still odd. I'm borderline OCD, I carry a pencil protector around in my backpack, I am a neat freak, I have my head in a book all the time, listen to classical music, etc. I don't wear the high-water pants anymore and don't wear glasses anymore (thanks, Lasic surgery!).

I was an odd one in high school, though. I was still a nerd (academic team, friends were in the marching band, spanish club), but I also played soccer and baseball.

What comics? Any that I might know about? The ones I probably know about are the usual. But for example, I didn't know Sin City was a comic. Oh, it's a "graphic novel", right?
