murder site apartment juju

You said that you didn't like my comments about suicide. When every comment was advocacy for suicidal people to be treated like people with a disease rather than a gloomy ass death. To be medically treated rather than left to die. And then romanticized over. Because to the people who are actually suffering through that, that's literally the most insulting thing that you can hear. It's more insulting than actual insults, than other people telling you that you should die. That you should kill yourself. Because at least those people are treating you like a living, thinking creature. Not as a goddamn ghost story.

While you included your perspective on the medical issue that sometimes underlies suicides, your further comments were very sweeping and full of assumptions about the people who grieve suicide.

And this is the exact reason why I admonished you for speaking for everyone who's been suicidal.

For one, you are clearly not able to be objective about any part of the subject. For two, it sounds selfish. It is selfish. It's all treatable for the most part and no one is trying to pile more shit on an already disturbed individual.

Now get off your soapbox and go back and read what was written, this time objectively.

Yes, most of the time they are. Most people in this situation are having shit piled on them. And that overall attitude is what I'm bitching about. There's a stigma in this society against the mentally ill. And because of that, because of this great romanticizing of depression, coupled with this fear of the label, a preventable disease becomes a major social problem. The majority of people who manage a successful suicide are teenagers. Teenagers who have, in some cases, begged their parents to acknowledge there was a problem. So acting as if it isn't a social problem to someone dealing with it is insulting. That's all I'm saying. This idea that a room is somehow worse if a suicidal person died there, rather than, say, a cancer patient, is insulting. Because it implies that the suicide was not the result of a disease, but the result of some tragic, romanticized, ghost-story worthy event.

I don't want to get into a fight, it just really seemed that there was a lack of awareness about this. And how big of a problem it actually is.

It's possible to be objective and experience compassion. I can give you this same explanation in APA format if you want, I probably still have the jump drive around here somewhere.

I take it you still don't understand the topic of this thread and why we made the comments we did regarding the other 10%? Maybe you should start a thread of your own about this subject if it means that much to you.

No, I really don't understand your comments at all.

I don't even understand why that would be a consideration in getting an apartment. Unless you were scared that the crime rate in the area was such that you might also be killed. Or unless you were one of those ghost people who really believed it would be haunted.

Either way it's no excuse to perpetuate the stereotype that suicidal people should be the subject of this misguided idea that they're just sad souls. Because that stereotype is damaging.

Fuck me giddy, you are a complete twat aren't you.

Who is perpetuating that myth in this thread? Show me. You yourself said that 90% of suicides are suffering mental illness. WHAT ABOUT THE OTHERS YOU COCK? That's who I am referring to. Those are sad souls. I'm not stereotyping, you are.

You are basically implying that everyone who commits suicide has mental illness aren't you? Get off your soapbox for a few minutes and fucking READ what others are posting and then consider the nature of the thread.

Hey Candi, it's great that those are your feelings but I'm entitled to my own. If a certain circumstance would disturb me more than others it's my business. You want to be insulted that's fine. Not my intention but your feelings aren't my concern. And we were answering this thread with how we felt. You don't like it, tough noogies.

You'd think by 2013, we'd have learned how to stop overcooking noogies.

Yes, everyone who suffers from suicide has a mental illness. None of them are sad souls, that's the steriotype. I said that 90% suffer from depression. There are lots of other illnesses that cause suicide. No one does it because they're sad. There's literally never been a single case since the IRB started recording them. But the idea that there are is what causes people to commit suicide, rather than get help for their illness.

The other illnesses that are related to suicide are: bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders (including borderline personality disorder or addictive personality disorder), anxiety disorders (including posttraumatic stress disorder and panic attacks) and eating disorders (including bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa). That's your other 10%.

Please stop shaming people and telling them that they are "just sad". This is the LEADING REASON people don't get treatment. This idea is the LEADING REASON that people die.

Keep in mind that all scientific studies operate on a z-score of .05% so there is a .05% that people might be "just sad". But there's a higher probability that you'll just burst into flames for no reason.

I'm not actually talking about my feelings. I'm just trying to bring awareness to the reality of suicide and not the weird... ghost story-esc thing that a lot of people seem to think, and make you understand why that line of thinking is extremely dangerous and is a contributing factor to the US's high suicide rates. That's not a subjective statement, there have been several psychological and sociological studies done on the subject.

I don't think you can suffer from suicide. I mean in a strict sense.

Fuck, now I want some dumplings.

You didn't read what I posted. You just quoted me and carried on banging your drum.

What about the other 10% you mentioned? What category do they fall in, in that pea-sized fucking brain of yours?

The other illnesses that I just listed that were not depression. That you literally just quoted. The paragraph that I concluded with "There's your 10%".

Look you knob jockey, we are referring to the ghost story-esc thing in this thread. Why don't you understand that? Have you eaten some spoiled meat or something?

For fuck sake.

WAIT!!

Candicunt has a point. This thread is making me want to kill myself. I'm just not sure which percentage I fall into.
