Would it bother you if, after finding a seemingly perfect home, you discovered via the great and terrible Google that there had been in recent times an isolated, but terrible murder on the steps of the apartment building that you were considering moving into (i.e. the outcome of a domestic dispute, not a pervading neighbourhood issue.)?

People die all the time, I don't think that it matters, unless it will effect you in some sort of negative way.

Placing any sort of "spiritual" value on it seems silly, and could probably cost you a nice apartment.

It might give me the creeper deepers but if it wasn't inside the actual apartment I would probably be alright with living there.

Maybe I would talk to the neighbors.

Back when I owned a few rental properties, I had one prospective tenant insist on inserting a clause into the standard lease that allowed her to move out with zero notice in the event of "evil or malevolent spirits".

Ummm....no.

People die, but this is murder. What if the walls told him to do it?

I would find it of course very sad and a little spooky. I don't think I would let it stop me from moving in. I believe in a Higher Power though and that might make a little difference. What happened bad there doesn't have to stay bad. If you thought the apartment was perfect before and there is no chance of you being hurt I would go for it.:rose: Build your own happy memories!

Dude that is fucking awesome.

Might be haunted as hell. That shit's a selling point.

Oh hell no that is totally brutal and so metal ...

That is exactly what I thought.

I dated someone for awhile that moved into his apartment and later found out someone was murdered in the bedroom. Instead of just accepting that these things happen in the big city he moved his bed to the living room. I always thought it was such an overreaction but then again I spent my summers in a big house that many, many people had died in, from death during childbirth to a hanging in the front yard to old age to a passionate fight that lead to a woman poisoning her husband.

Maybe I just always assumed that was a part of life in this small world we live in but it never bothered me.

If I ever start a speed metal band, I'm calling it murder site apartment juju.

That occurred to me - it's a pre-war building, probably seen all sorts of horrors that I don't know about. This was so recent, though. It's chilling.

Proximity makes a difference to me too. So does the type of violence. A suicide feels different (worse) than a murder.

I laughed.

If it helps offset it, just imagine all the sex that's probably happened there, and it should calm your nerves.

My great-grandpa died on the bed I'm sitting on right now. I hope he's not haunting it because I totally fuck on it. I got a different mattress tho. I know you can't catch black lung but still... it was all gross and corpsy.

That's an awesome name. Of course "Staircase Murder" is also a pretty cool name.

Edit: "Murder Staircase" is better.

I totally fuck on my great-grandmother's quilt. I like to think she's happy for me.

something horrible happened in my house, before i moved here. i found out a couple of years later when one of my jobs ran a federal background check and came back with someone who allegedly lived at my address. it explained the locks on the bedroom doors when i moved in. i'm sure the new place has its own ghosts. i plan on singing and dancing for them. they deserve to rest in peace.

Short answer: No.

To be completely honest - if the murder occurred in the bedroom of the apartment, I think that would squick me. Totally irrational, but it's true. On the steps of the building, however, not so much.

Thread title is starting to grow on me tho.

Considering changing Literotica to Murder Site Apartment Juju.

Too long? Maybe MSAJ.

Oh I have been, obsessively. I saw a news item with a picture of the superintendent hosing the blood off of the sidewalk. I read the story about how her mother, hearing her screams, ran downstairs and held her in her arms, wailing. I hope the perp sees justice.

It's true, I would be silly to go about this in the most co-dependent way possible, as if I'm the one that needs closure.
