Okay, since we are only a few days away from the beginning, I thought I would go ahead and start the official Literotica Writers Do National Novel Writing Month thread. In case any of you missed it in the other NaNo thread, I will be doing the word count update table again this year. If you want your info included, please PM me your story title and genre (if you've come up with one) and let me know you want to be included in the table. Once I've gotten the table up and running, I will edit this post and add it so it will always be on the first page.

Adding these here so everything will be in one thread:

Some helpful threads in the NaNo forums for anyone who is still in need of plot, characters, titles, etc. This way you won't have to hunt them down as they move around in the forums.

Adopt-a-Plot

Adopt-a-Character

Adopt-a-Title

Outlining help : place to find resources to help with your plot outline

The Dare Thread and More Dares : finding it hard to make the word count? Use these plot ninjas!

Experts Thread and Resource thread : need help on a particular subject? Check here!

Please remember that this thread is not only for word count updates but also for support, research, posting excerpts, lamenting lack of progress, etc.

4 days away! Better finish my character sheets - still got 2 more characters to describe.

I'll be the one lamenting the lack of progress, just like all the other years, I'm sure.

*sigh*

You and me both, baby.
I still need to re-sign up on the site under the wonderful other name.

Just a reminder to PM me with your info if you want to be included in the word count updates.

Might take you up on your suggestion Crim, everything planned for November has been put on hold.

 's to you and thanks.

Just let me know if you decide to go ahead and want to be included in the word count updates.

A new math class starting in November. An exam with essay-questions. Two mad cats who're chewing my interior decoration to pieces and knocking over vases and glasses as they play a game of "chase".

This year's NaNo's gonna be a breeze. :p

Only have to get through the rest of tonight, tomorrow and Tuesday before you can get started! (anyone else planning on starting at midnight?)

I will be starting at midnight, yes. I must get a lot of sleep on Halloween night so I can accomplish this...I plan on sleeping every 24-36 hours.

Oh, I need to PM you!

I'm filling out the character sheet on my main character, (there are only about three main characters in my book). A lot of what she goes through is based on my life but I want to make sure she is a different person. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks in advance.

When doing the character sheet on the character that is most like you, try putting in different attributes, perhaps what you wish you were really like, but aren't, or look like, but don't; but make sure the character still has faults, like everyone does. That's what I did with my secondary main character.

Hope that helps.

One of my writing books says to experiment with making your character as physically different from you as possible (for starters), then move on to emotions, life circumstances, mental state... You take a look at this character, who is the extreme opposite of you, and work on his/her characteristics further until you're satisfied that he or she is completely different from you but closer to you inside.

Did that make sense? I'm a little drubnk. ;)

Drinking while doing your Nano character sheets? Bet they're going to turn out lovely... :p
