I don't wish to cause a long diversion of this thread, but I'd like quickly to acknowledge the kind and helpful words from funluvinaj, dutchrain and Thandi as below:

I think i speak for all the lit ladies that pm's from you would be welcome… you write eloquently, you have something to say, and you are polite. I don't believe that a PM from you would come with any expectations.

We enjoy getting random PM's as much as the next person, but prefer that it actually says something worth reading and doesn't jump into sex.

If you want to comment in depth on something someone posted the quote what they said on the thread and start with that.

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.
Yes, yes and yes.
Brava!
I completely agree on all points.
I understand that you were all making a general point as well, but I sincerely appreciate the parts that were directed at me personally. :)

I'd also like to reflect the comments from Shadowmist99 and SpicySweets that express the other side of the coin:

I never mind getting a friendly pm and almost always reply. Those that are rude or just dumb, I delete and don't bother with. Unfortunately, a lot of those first polite messages quickly become focused on sex and it's clear they just want a quick fuck.

About three quarters of the time they disappear when they realize I'm not interested and the rest of the time they apologize and still want to talk. I think most people just want to be acknowledged.
I really enjoy getting to know someone on here, and sure, things getting sexy could be a great thing. But often times, I feel like the person I'm enjoying a chat with wants to rush into the sexy stuff and keeps trying to steer the conversation in that direction. I've shied away from some people only because I knew exactly where they wanted to go with their friendly "hello" for the day.
Thanks for those contributions! I, for one, have found them valuable and insightful. :)
.

is it me or do most friendships here tend to fizzle within 6 months?

Some do. Some even fizzle within weeks. In RL I would call these friendships acquaintances. Some friendships here are strong though, what I call real friendships.

You think its just the natural progression ?

Yes, I do. Just as in RL, with some people you exchange a few words, and drift apart again. You still greet them when you meet them on the street, ask each other how life is, but that is all.

In all fairness I probably pass my sell by date in terms of entertainment after a week or so.

I find I'm quite good at stagnating pm conversations, without that being my intention.

Sunday...Sunday....Sunday....

Good morning Litiquette-izans, I hope you left a little in the tank to get you through the day. ;)

Expectations. A lot of what get's discussed here hinges on expectations. Whether we expect people to be polite, literate, naughty....what have you, it's only when those expectations aren't met we tend to get irritated/upset with folks. So in an attempt to understand expectations and thereby, hopefully, reduce the pain & suffering that go along with unmet expectations, what is you biggest expectation of others here at Lit? What is the one thing, above all else, that you believe people should be doing/acting/saying?

To be polite and have fun. (Yeah, I know, that's two things). I don't even care about the cliques and inside jokes as long as everyone is polite.

Relax!

Lit is what we make it, and your own experience is directly proportional to the quality of your contribution.

Because it's a one-man show, and we are clearly not interacting with others, right? This makes no sense whatsoever. You are certainly responsible for your contribution but you have no control over how others choose to perceive you or treat you.

It was a collective "we".

And it makes perfect sense if you read the first word, first. But perhaps I assumed people could read between the lines a little. My apologies for that mistake.

It was a collective "we".

Followed by "your OWN experience is proportional to YOUR contribution"

Let's just move on now. I just didn't agree with your statement.

I know what it's like to be a contributor and feel that my contribution was worthwhile only to be treated indifferently by the cliques here. If you never have, then consider yourself lucky, but don't be so bold as to think it's because your contribution was somehow better than mine.

Now now everyone. There aren't any corners so I can't send anyone there. Let's remember to be respectful even when we disagree. This thread has always tried to be a safe zone for differing opinions without the poster having to worry about being jumped on. Let save that for the GB and discuss here as friends.

And I will repeat....slower this time.

R e l a x.

You're getting your knickers all in a knot while "arguing" over doing just the opposite. Your contribution does not just include the little gems you post that people pat you in the back for. It is also the stuff you simply CAN'T let go of. As well as the perceived tone in which you felt words were written or directed at you. Like your above statement, you assume I feel my posts are superior to yours for some reason.

So I will add to my initial statement that it is best not to project your own mood or insecurities onto the words of others. :)

NOW we can move along with this thread.

Points well taken. You are probably very correct in some of your assessments. I do stand by my initial reaction to your first post, though. The stuff that followed was not necessary. My apologies as well.

You can't see it, but I am shrugging my shoulders with an "I don't get it " look.

Hello you. :)

No harm, no foul.

And I am 100% okay if people only agree or can identify with 50% of what I say. :)

Hello you. :)

And you also can't see it, but it is this exact post made by you now that actually touches on some of the issues that have been discussed in this thread.

I am moving on. I am not looking for an argument, truly. You may not see it, but your tone is very clear, not easily mistaken for something it isn't.

Totally agree with RS....Don't be a fucktard because you've chosen to be anonymous.

ETA: this is not in any way directed at posters in this thread. It's a general statement about "fucktardedness" which needed to be highlighted.. :p

Putting on my badge and adjusting my hat......

The Riles / All 4 Love exchange is exactly what this thread ISN'T about. Everyone here should feel free to post their honest thoughts with out fear of being personally "attacked". I will say that exchange, both parties guilty here, was pure GB mentality that quite frankly, doesn't belong here.

If you can't reply to a post without thinly veiled personal attacks, I encourage you to move along.

Readjusts hat and saunters out...
