Sunday...Sunday....Sunday....

Good morning Litiquette-izans, I hope you left a little in the tank to get you through the day. ;)

Expectations. A lot of what get's discussed here hinges on expectations. Whether we expect people to be polite, literate, naughty....what have you, it's only when those expectations aren't met we tend to get irritated/upset with folks. So in an attempt to understand expectations and thereby, hopefully, reduce the pain & suffering that go along with unmet expectations, what is you biggest expectation of others here at Lit? What is the one thing, above all else, that you believe people should be doing/acting/saying?

The only expectation I have of others here is that they remember we are all people with feelings. Yes, there will be discussions and even arguments, but being adult about things makes a huge difference.

I might give the GB another whirl. .idk yet..

I crack up when people say I'm a "cool kid"...because I'm anything but... And as far a cliques go, I'm a one-woman - clique if anything, so I think I disqualify myself by definition..

Like most forums, there is always an "in-group" that is often seen as the cool ones...

(The GB scares me.)

The irony is who you think are the cool kids are probably not the same ones I think are the cool kids. Suddenly feels like high school in here....

Well, for sure I'm

Lit as in life is all about perception. And over time those perceptions change.

What was one of your early perceptions of Lit, that over time you discovered had no merit?

I refuse to answer this as it might make me seem snarkier than usual...

I'm interested in others extinct perceptions, though..

I'm not sure my early perceptions of lit have changed that much. I was a lurker for months before finally posting my first message. I did think people were mostly honest and now I'm much more likely to not take things at face value. I haven't grown cynical or jaded, just more cautious.

PM creeps I don't get. I mean what do they think is going to happen?

I am not sure, I might be a bit more cynical or maybe I am less cynical in a way. Let me rephrase: I was very cynical about certain things at first, but now I am more cynical about other things and much more laconic about things I was insecure about.

That it was all about sex here.

I mean, of course it's randy and guttery and deliciously unfetteringly flirty and I love all the bewbies and the kisses and the oh-so-sexy dudes and...

....wait, what was I saying again?

Happiest of Mondays Litiquette-izans.

A busy weekend around these parts, interesting opinions on things. I'm curious, we all know opinions can't really be right or wrong, they just are. But what if you discovered that one of your opinions posted at Lit was so far outside the realm of agreement by almost all Litsters that it presented itself as wrong? Would it create introspection on your part or would you just move on because "that's how you feel"?

It would lead me more towards introspective meditation. Then again, I'm naturally prone to introspection. I am always willing to consider anything, but then once that process is complete, I stand behind my made up mind.

Depends on what it is about. There are some things I stand firm on and believe in. I don't discount others' opinions because they are just as valid as mine.

Other things are open to interpretation. A difference of opinion might lead me to introspection since I may have never considered that side of things before.

I try to be open to others' opinions (and never want to belittle them for it) but I'm old enough that I just believe in some things and stand in that.

It doesn't take much to drive me to introspection! :D

Having said that, to be in a minority doesn't automatically make one wrong, or ill-advised in an opinion. I've lost track of the number of times on social media that I have seen stories reported that have attracted many "likes" and rabidly-supportive comments, but that turn out to be based on a falsehood, a misconception or a vested interest.

I've learnt from my experiences that it can be a mistake to abandon my viewpoint just because a lot of people seem to disagree. I'd definitely take disagreement, though, as a trigger to review my own position, and I'll try to do that in a way that listens sensitively to the views of others.

Well considered words to live by from a thoughtful, regular contributor to Lit.

Opinions based on personal preferences and experiences are a reflection of ourselves. I find it hard to think of how they could truly be seen as so out of step with others here that they could be wrong. Certainly, I'd be prepared to consider another's reasoned argument or specific knowledge. And I'd like to think I'd be open to seeing another's perspective, but I'd be unlikely to wallow in introspection, not for anything likely to crop up here.

So many good things have been said by the posters above me!

Yes, my opinion is my opinion. Would I be in the minority with it, doesn't that make me automatically wrong. The other's perspective might make me re-think.

I would think on my opinion. If, after considering what others say I still felt the way I did, I'd stay strong. It wouldn't be the first time I'd be in the minority on something.

Morning everyone.

What Pervy said. :D

I'v definitely been in the wrong before. If I posted a post that most would disagree with, I would listen to their arguments. If they were more convincing than mine, then I could and probably would change my mind. If they weren't more convincing than mine, then I wouldn't.

To appease those that post stalk me, I'll play a short catch up ....

The interaction or rather the actions of men & women at Lit are most interesting. It's my observation that 90% of the women come here to interact, have fun and just enjoy themselves and if they happen to find a playmate that's even better. For men it appears the converse is true. 90% are here trying to "hook up"

Everyone is here for a reason, those reasons are all varied and that's what makes it such a diverse community ... of erotic people. ;) If you took all posters including those with fewer than 100, yes, those males may just be looking to hook up. High post count, a profile and an AV say you're (usually) here to chat, mingle and have fun. I think the same rules apply in real life. If I am friends with a woman does that mean I'd like to tie her down and spank her? No, but the more I know about them might lead me to delicious thoughts such as those. A body is just that and there are plenty on the interwebs. The mind is what I seek and that is the organ I wish to seduce and make mine.

So in an attempt to understand expectations, what is your biggest expectation of others here at Lit? What is the one thing, above all else, that you believe people should be doing/acting/saying?

An open mind, listening ears and a respectful demeanor.

Well, to salute 'the right way' you have to straighten your back and push your chest out ... Of course the question if palm out or down is the right way still remains, but I think Chained (or any of our gentlemanly men) wouldn't concentrate on that?

Palm down ... and by all means chest out. ;)

What was one of your early perceptions of Lit, that over time you discovered had no merit?

That people were here for the stories, but it is much more than that. The community, the people I have met and threads like this are what make me keep coming. Phrasing! ;)

But what if you discovered that one of your opinions posted at Lit was so far outside the realm of agreement by almost all Litsters that it presented itself as wrong? Would it create introspection on your part or would you just move on because "that's how you feel"?

Our opinions are just that, uniquely ours. There are great places to share with open minds and, if I were completely on the other end of the spectrum, it depends on the topic. Somethings I would remain adamant about, others I would re-evaluate. If you have opinions on D/s and BDSM, I'll gladly discuss them and have on other threads, but I preface anything I say regarding that topic that these are my opinions. If they help you to understand or build a better D/s relationship with your partner, fantastic. If not, due to that world being so diverse, that's completely understandable and I respect your opinion as well. If you tell me strong black coffee is disgusting, I know you're wrong and that's just a fact. ;)

Opinions: Short answer: No. The mob has rarely been right about anything.

I try to keep my opinions based on current known facts and logic. Feelings and emotions don’t really play much, if any, part in how I’ve come to my opinions on things. I view the world as I’ve seen it, and I’ve tried to keep the blinders off.

I don’t get upset if someone has a different opinion than me. It doesn’t cause me to panic and question the entirety of my existence. I don’t scream, cuss, threaten, or take my ball and go home. I tend to think I’m mature enough and secure enough to actually have a conversation without allowing the need to be “right” play a factor. I’ll listen, and see if their opinion has more validity than mine. I’ve noticed some seem to think a differing opinion is somehow a judgment against them. When I get the sense they’re trying to win or discredit me at any cost, the value of their opinion drops to zero.

Depends. I've started a few relatively controversial threads, ruffled more than a few feathers, don't really care either. My opinion is just that, mine. Your opinion is yours. It's only when you start trying to convince me I'm wrong that you'll poke the bear once too many times. I'm very interested in others' opinions but that doesn't mean I have to agree or disagree with you. It's relative. Now, when things are based purely on fact, I'm more than willing to be convinced.

Example for those who need one:
FACT: Vinegar and Baking soda react together to form carbon dioxide gas.
this is a fact and can not be disputed

Opinion: It's fun as shit to mix the two together.
This is NOT a fact, rather my opinion, and if you try to convince me otherwise, you'll either annoy me or I'll ignore you
