This is my favorite thread, no joke. I often check it before I check my own. So, thanks Chained. We all appreciate you keeping things interesting. :)

Now that's saying something, esoecially if you've been to SweetSam's page and see her boobs. Uh oh, I think I may have started it all over again now ;)

There's a lot of "fluff" and "fun" at the Playground, but it's nice to see substance too - thoughtful posts by truly thoughtful and intelligent people. I read for quite a while before I ever posted, and I especially appreciate that it has stayed respectful. I raise my glass you you Chained, and also to all your posters.

hey cool on the 5000 posts.
are you starting a new thread? Please...
I do enjoy reading thru here and posting every now and then.
:heart::kiss::rose:

I can echo that. Litiquette is the first thread that I look at when I visit the site. I would check out my own thread, but it's been dormant for quite a long time now.

The respectfulness on this thread is a key point for me. I enjoy the cut-and-thrust of thoughtful and witty discussion, but I get turned off very quickly by impoliteness and flaming. Long may it continue! :)

Next topic, Chained? ;)

Next topic. Apologies for being tardy. Which is a great segue to my topic. Are we as Listers will take a little more from out Lit friends than we do in RL. With RL coming first it seems inherent that we defer to that here. But in RL we wouldn't dream of deferring to the same extent we do here. Why is that?

Precisely because this environment isn' t "real", and the people, although quite real, are not part of our day to day reality, at least in most cases.

Yes, what Purr said. I have responsibilities in real life. I don't have any obligations here - one reason why I like it.

And while I do have friends from Lit I like very much, they all understand what comes first, and I understand what comes first for them. This is supplemental to all things reality, and to be enjoyed. I've heard stories of possessive and jealous Lit lovers who don't seem to get that, and that's what the ignore function is for.

All in good fun here, but I keep my priorities in check. Well, usually.

We interrupt this topic for a brief announcement.....
Preakness. California Chrome.

That is all. Return to your posting.

Ride On Curlin needed just a little more gas. Will he have at the Belmont?

He was lookin' pretty good at the end. He was one of my top 3 picks to win, along with CC and Social Inclusion. (not much risk in picking those, was there?)

Looking good. That's what we all want our lit partners to be. Even though we all say looks aren't the most important part of relationship. If we're honest with ourselves we'd all prefer an appealing body to go along with that mind that hooked us. If you finally arranged to meet your lit partner and they weren't as good looking in person as you had hoped, would it impact the relationship?

The politically correct answer is 'oh no, it's what's inside that counts'.

The truth is, its a matter of degrees.
Tall, dark and handsome now short, pale and fugly?
Or not so tall, not so dark, and okay?
Yes, it matters.

I have a slightly different perspective on this, as I've met many people from Internet groups (although not Lit) in real life, but only as friends. For me, the reality is that everyone looks different in real life, even if I've seen photos of them beforehand. I've never been disappointed because, on all occasions, they've been true to the person that I've known from previous exchanges -- but then I haven't been seeking them as a fashion accessory.

I appreciate that the position may be very different in a "date" scenario, though.

I echo MF's thoughts. Pictures and words only tell half the story. I've met people online (not on lit) in person and it's gone both ways. If they are true to who they've presented themselves to be, looks matter less. If they are a completely different entity than who they presented online, they quickly lose their beauty in my eyes. I've always believed in true authenticity, whether in line at the grocery store, online talking with people (FB is the worst offender when it comes to people not being authentic), or over the phone (even chatting with the 10 billion sales people who call). I'm a big believer that if you are truly yourself, no matter how plain the face, beauty will shine through. Unless your a psychopath- then be yourself, so I can see who you are and get a head start running my ass in the other direction! Lol

*pounces VV*

Heard you missed me. ;)

I was in your neck of the woods Friday night. .. thought of you and Neverending fries baskets. :D

It's a hunger that can never be met.

Is Lit someplace where you can easily judge how full your plate is? Or do you end up loosening your pants to ease strain of over indulging?

I do tend to bite off more than I can chew here at times. When this happens, I pull back a little (maybe clear out the IM list - sorry ) and then take it a little slower for a bit. Then start the cycle all over again.

Real life takes precedence over everything I do here, and sometimes, something's gotta give.

I totally get what you're saying.

That is so me.
I might need to stop posting as Sam is perfectly explaining where I stand most of the times ! Scary !
