4 oz of C4, if properly placed and tamped over the hard drive of a computer, would shatter the disk itself, which you would want it to do. Improperly placed or tamped it would blow up the computer, but might not take out the hard drive. C4 kicks out a wicked little shock wave, at about 8000 m/s - but, the residual heat is relatively low. So, you would have to actually hit the drive - the risk would be that you would tear it all apart but not completely destroy the disk itself - and most importantly from a forensic recovery standpoint not melt the media from the drive (or drive fragments).

Hard drives are made of aluminum alloy, which comes it at about 20,000 PSI and they are actually pretty hard to destroy. The approved method of destruction by the Federal government for security purposes is removing the drive and using a grinder to remove all of the media from the drive, and then shred the drive itself.

Or, you could just take a 1 lb. hammer too it. Odds are our S/O's are not going to have the forensic skills to recover the data. Though, this being the modern age, they could google it and find plenty of companies to do it.

I often lurk, just reading what is written in the forums. That is one of the things I like about boards as opposed to chat - on boards you can just quietly browse and only engage when you feel like it. I tend to bounce back and forth between the stories and the boards in Lit, or have two browsers open.

I confess to being a glutton for Lit gossip. I'm fascinated by the microcosm of society you can find here, and being able to peek into people's bedrooms, virtual or otherwise.

But, I really only know AmPics gossip, and not even very much anymore, as I lost contact with my main source.

I rely on only one or two old timers for info now, so am fairly out of the loop.

Unless it directly involves me, which it pretty much never does, I'm not in the right time zone to keep up with the drama. Shit always seems to go down while I'm drooling on my pillow. By the time I get on Lit it's either all over or no one wants to talk about it. Consequently, I don't pay much mind to Lit gossip no matter how curious I am. Besides, I don't want Lit to become a negative place, so I think it best to not be a consumer of gossip.

The GB seems to be the place where people hang on to the back story - they have to know exactly how to hurt the other person, like spiteful children. But I've been on some threads where a bit of historical knowledge helps the humor. So long as it doesn't go on and on, or else newbies feel excluded

I haven't gossiped about Lit - I am not here often enough or long enough to get caught up in the gossip - and I am not inclined toward the negative aspects of gossip. I have a normal level of curiosity about the various stories that flow through the Lit forums, but I pretty much take it on face value. Life can be a rough thing and I try not to add to that part of it. I will not hesitate to share good things I here, but that is about the limit of my gossiping.
