Litiquette question:

It happens all the time. Someone sees a comment that seems like it's directed very pointedly at them. And then he/she may ride the line for a few minutes before deciding either to let it go or to post back or send a PM inquiring as to the poster's intent. What's the proper way to go about that?

Conversely... what's the proper litiquette for responding to random comments, even though they're not directed anywhere near you? Just for shits and giggles, like on the blurt thread's third incarnation.

Green: Let that shit go. If someone wants to say something to you, they'll gather the balls and say it to you. If it is about you, yet they continue to passive aggressively post vague comments, let them wallow in their childish ways until they are ready to stop acting their shoe size.

Purple: Keep it to a minimum, 'cause that shit can get annoying, unless it's someone you know, then go wild.

When I blurt and someone comments on it, I'm usually cool with it. But sometimes I just want to blurt, leave, and not have a conversation about it. I think a lot of people want to just "blurt n' go" sometimes, but they have to clarify their intent because the person below them questions whether it's about them, even if it's just for shits and gigs.

There have been plenty of times I've been pm'd and asked if it was directed at them.

I've seen a prime example of that in RA's thread about Online Only ...

That thread. Basically asking for trouble, that was.

I don't suffer 'holier than thou' attitudes. If I'm not sure, I PM. If it turns out not to be at me, you get the 'I hope everything is okay' bit. If it turns out to be at me, the solution is either very diplomatic of very fuckoff-ish.

Forgive me for breaking Litiquette...here..but how, if I may ask, was my query asking for trouble?

Why...pray tell was my interest in a subject any god damn different than several others I could name? The thread was not about you, nor was it about her, yet you both seem to take the most offense at it as though I personally attacked you both.

I call that a tell tale heart, and I had nothing to do with it. I'm pretty tolerent---nice even--- on most days, but seriously. Grow up.

The reason behind the thread ( not that I owe you or Serene.. or anyone else for that matter.. an explanation was I happened to be reading through the personals last night, and it struck a chord that several l saw specified "online only" as if it needed clarification. . I simply found it odd and amusing.

I'm not sorry I pissed in the punch bowl... it adds a certain twang to the party.

Time to add a couple rules to the thread I guess.

1) no personal attacks. Although I certainly understand if you get called out they need and the want to defend yourself.

2) no veiled post about other people walking, criticizing, bitching about them here.

3) is someone post something without naming names and you think it's about you don't bring it up in the thread, do what you didn't did NPM the person and cleared up that way

Alright now everybody in for a group hug!!!!
