Lesson one - Wandering from the thread's original purpose kills thread
I'd like to go back to a topic Aquagal brought up, and that's what to do with information about people's Lit relationships. My hunch is that Lit will be no different than RL, where that type of information is rarely disclosed. Rightly or wrongly, the tendency is to not share. Should we or shouldn't we.......
I also think some people take this place WAY too seriously. A mistake I made one time myself.
Yes, but what do you mean by that? This is exactly why I don't post in this thread often. Obviously it's a popular thread and I'm not disparaging it, but I don't see the need to analyze this place. It's fun and that's it. Gary Larson who drew The Far Side comics was once asked if he had ever gone for psychoanalysis, he said no, he didn't want to ruin a good thing.

I am glad I am not the only one who thinks this!
I post here to keep in touch with some of the fellow interesting Litsters that post here...but I don't see the point in going quite so deep into it to be honest.
I agree with Thandi. Also, the Lit forum is the one thing that we all have in common so, by definition, it's a conversation that's accessible to all.I don't see it as analyzing Lit. I see this thread as making people think. Sure the one word answer threads can be fun, but let's have some some interesting, intriguing conversation as well.

The great thing about Lit is that there are approx. 593 other active threads one can post on. If this one doesn't float your boat I'm sure there are other ones that will. But please don't come into the thread and begin to post why this thread doesn't work for you. Would you ever walk into a friend's house and proceed to tell them all the reasons you wouldn't have bought it?

Chill your boots mate. I would argue that this kind of conversation is exaclty what the thread is about, bouncing ideas and opinions. No one is being rude, or insulting to anyone else. No one said it was a bad thread....just talking about the thread.
I have had people come into my house and say they wouldnt buy it, and given their reasons. Its fine...they didn't, so its all good.
GiggLeGasm;57553143 yanno.. since you asked[/QUOTE said:You love the wallpaper in this place.....
This thread has been successful because it's a safe place to share one's opinions about Lit. To that end, I can see that would include this thread. It was the use of the term "self-righteous" that struck a nerve. I also started the thread as a way for new people to better understand the societal norms of Lit and what would be acceptable with the confines of the place. I'll admit I get a little in edge when I think I see anyone calling people, or in this case, the thread, out specifically.
But banter away on the value of the thread all you want, you are right, that's what this thread is about.

Not to beat a dead horse here, but I agree with Thandi. This is the only thread in the PG where I feel welcome, and I enjoy reading everyone's thoughts on these topics. It's fun to have more meaningful conversations here, and I wish there were more threads like it.

That makes me sad. A sweet and undeniably beautiful soul like you should feel at home anywhere at all on lit.![]()
Rude people just piss me off.![]()
Lol. I didn't mean to sound like a sad sack!! I just usually get ignored elsewhere here in the PG. I have plenty of fun in AmPics, so I'll manage. But thanks, you two.
