No, Chainey, I wasn't lost. Just had less time of late and my Lit time had to suffer for it either that or I was off developing an immunity to iocane powder... Either way, I now have more to catch up on, so there are still a lot of 'fresh' topics out there.

Mobile internet had totally reformed our online time.. No need to be on a PC or even totally focused and one way or another we are online most of the day. No guilts, no one even cares to ask.
New era of iTime. Good one ? Not so sure.

I refer to Lit as a 'chatroom' but Tumblr is Tumblr I multi-browser-window and have at least three open at any time, plus the college work ( thank heavens for multi thread processors ) but I hardly ever watch television. I'll check in on a couple of TV favourites but most of it in the UK is such crap. I read a lot too.

I mean, by comparison, how cool is it to chat to people all round the world about sex?

That is absolutely hilarious! It's exactly what we say about TV in the US, that what ya'll have is so much better than the garbage we have here.

I'm also continually amazed by being able to have idle conversation with people all over the world. The fact that I'm rapidly being overtaken by those who don't remember when that wasn't possible is a little scary.

And so do I: Only the other day I giggled when I read in a book (written in the seventies) a police detective ran too a bar to phone for the arrest bus while his partner stayed with the unsub ... Of course my offspring wanted to know why I giggled. When I told them, they asked me if the book was written in the century before last ...

I'm afraid that the people I used to know in real life who I would have been comfortable talking to about Lit have either drifted away or passed on. I actually need to work on making some new friends: I tend to have just a few close ones at a time and never foresaw a day when that circle would be so diminished by attrition.

Once or twice with the friends I do have, I think I've used the phrase "on Lit" when I meant to use the more ambiguous "online", but I've been able to gloss over it.

It's probably the same garbage but we have less adverts ( for now )
I find the ads the decide-moment and take the chance to switch it off but there are some good shows - we do the costume dramas pretty well

The trouble with proclamations is they are easy to make but infinitely harder to maintain. I'm to the point of avoiding them, as 90% of the time they end in failure. I see them in Lit all the time. I suppose the ones that are maintained are never noticed, it's only the failed ones we notice.

So, here's my thought, let's do away with the proclamation and focus on the deed. If you feel the need to inform your close friends then PM them. Otherwise let your actions speak. Who's in?

When it comes to Lit, my friends don't know a THING. Nada. Diddly Squat.
I'm fairly sure they all think I'm a sweet and angelic type.
(I'm actually serious for once. My online 'persona' and the person that my friends know are very different individuals when it comes to sexual expression).
As for the topic of how much time we spend on line in general - it's never come up. So i've told no lies.

I think that this depends on the sort of proclamation that you mean. I guess I don't spend nearly enough time here, anymore and so I've not noticed this sort of thing posted with any frequency.

However, I freely admit to being a regular poster of "I'm NEVER doing that again" or "No more" or " will not get myself into this situation again".
It's usually followed (a few months later) by a tumbling-down-the-rabbit-hole type proclamation.
I'm useless at changing my own behaviour.
