I don't put confidence and arrogance on the same line. Arrogance is an attitude, confidence is a characteristic. One can be both arrogant and confident, but the majority of time, in my experience - arrogance is the mask worn to hide lack of confidence. Confidence has no need for arrogance. There is an acid test - confidence delivers, arrogance doesn't. Arrogance belittles and confidence doesn't even see why one should do that. I like a confident woman.

Nicely put Paul!

Arrogance pushes, takes a 'my way is the only way' stand even in the face of evidence to the contrary.
Confidence leads, thinks more about the people in the group than the leader and is open to discussion. Confidence is secure in the knowledge that the right way will be found--not so much that it will be the first plan.

Incidentally, good night everyone. I find myself off to bed. Behave yourselves while I'm away.

Strolls in. I've been told I'm a confident guy, sometimes maybe a little too confident. (I refute that point ;) ). Confidence is sexy but arrogance is not. Where do you draw that line? When does confidence become a turnoff.
You've hit a "hot button" for me there! I loathe arrogance. It's a trait that I've seen around me throughout my educational and working careers, and my nightmare is that it might have rubbed off on me. I'd like to appear outwardly confident, but I'd rather hide myself away than run the risk of seeming arrogant.

Of course, I don't usually get to know what other people are thinking, so it's difficult for me to gauge where I really lie on the confidence versus arrogance scale. Should I worry? I'm not sure. I try to maintain a healthy sense of humour about myself, ensure that I take other people's feelings into account in my actions, and keep my senses sharp for any signs that I'm going too far.

In other people, I like to see confidence, but tempered with a sense of humanity and compassion. I'm not drawn to "cold fish", no matter how capable they might seem. Self-awareness and openness about vulnerabilities can be attractive too.

Attention whores, well, we all have a little of that in us. Certainly a guy that is the OP of a thread that tosses out conversation topics is undoubtedly guilty ;) but we all see them, those shameless acts of hand waving and cries of "look at me , look at me". Tells us the most desperate act of attention whoring you've seen?

Can I come back and answer this later? ( said Sticky, seeking attention like a whore )

I don't know how to answer this without incriminating myself. Maybe that's my answer?!

Maybe we all have days when we need a little extra attention.
Maybe that's why some people are here, because they CAN make a spectacle of themselves more of less safely.
I think we all know who the most blatant ones are, do we really want to get into the business of being name callers and finger pointers?

I can't answer this particular question. I thought about it for a while and what stops me is this - I don't know what is going on inside a persons mind. When they write a bizarre story - is it because they want people to talk about it for the attention, or because they are seeking to challenge to reader to expand or alter their perceptions? When they post naked pictures - it is attention whoring or an expression of confidence in their sexuality? Deviant behavior for narcissistic reasons or deviant behavior as a guide to expanding consciousness. I really cannot tell, so I don't have an answer. I might have a judgment or two, but not an answer. So, ultimately, go fish on this question.

I'm curious, on any given day what prescient of the people on the PG engage in some sort sext/voice/cam sex? 50%, 75%???? My hunch is that it's closer to 50.

Hmmm. Well sometimes I talk really sexy to my myself. Once again it's a good thing that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing as it is a bit of a prude.
