I'm late to the party--it's true what they say "miss a day miss a lot"
I think people gravitate to Lit because it has a sort of laissez-faire attitude about it. A feeling of being able to say pretty much anything at all when, in our real life so much is off limits.
Also it's just so easy once you get past that awkward 'newbie' phase. (There's a small feeling of being a part of the group once you've done that without running away. A feeling of belonging and of having been accepted.)
There is that aura of being a bit naughty too, of participating in a group that is doing something forbidden. The 'oh my I can't let anyone see' feeling is a tiny bit exhilarating.
Mix all of that up with the fact that most of the people here are smart and outspoken, the sort I would like to spend time talking to in real life conversations but never seem to find.
It isn't so very odd that people are attracted and hang around.
Now and then the atmosphere changes and I leave rather than participate where I feel uncomfortable or just unhappy. Even then I find myself looking in to see when and if the time is right to wander back.
