Let's talk about guns, shootings, solutions and idiotic suggestions

I thought I was quite on it.

I mean the teacher came right out and got to the point. They don't want to be armed, defend themselves or kids from lunatics that might attack them and they shouldn't be forced to do so, they are teachers not soldiers.

I 100% agree with that.

If there was some other point??? It wasn't very pointy.

Everyone SHOULD have a safe workplace. That ideal is clear to me.

In the real world evil and dangerous people exist and the 99% work in extremally low security conditions.

The ideal is not the reality and recognizing that reality isn't a denial of the ideal.

Why are these facts so hard for you and yours to grasp??
No fucking way are we allowing liberal union loving teachers to be armed. Once they get guns they'll force kids to learn CRT and to hate white people.

with Senate talks 'focusing on mental health and school security' (how much it ignores availability of weapons i don't know), a House Dem proposes introduction of 1,000% tax on AR-15s with the intent of pricing the weapons out of the range of the majority who'd want to buy one.

Rep. Donald Beyer of Virginia, a member of the tax-writing House Ways and Means panel, wants to impose a 1,000% excise tax on assault weapons.

"What it's intended to do is provide another creative pathway to actually make some sensible gun control happen," Beyer told Insider. "We think that a 1,000% fee on assault weapons is just the kind of restrictive measure that creates enough fiscal impact to qualify for reconciliation."
New AR-15-style guns range from $500 to over $2,000 depending on location, NBC News reported. That means a 1,000% tax on the weapon would add $5,000 to $20,000 to their final sales price — and would probably keep it out of reach from many younger Americans.
One out of every five weapons purchased in the US in AR-15 style rifle, per the National Shooting Sports Foundation in a 2014 court brief. Gun sales have surged since then and reached their second-highest level recorded last year.
Law enforcement agencies and the US military wouldn't be subject to the tax, Beyer said. The legislation would also apply only to future assault weapon sales — and not to the 20 million AR-15-style rifles already estimated to be in circulation across the US. Other guns used for hunting and other recreational purposes would also be exempt.
ammunition wouldn't come under the new tax proposal, but it would target high-capacity magazines at the same 1,00% level. It is leveled only at new sales, so it fails to touch on the some 20m Ar-15 style weapons already in circulation in the U.S

The FBI's annual report on "Active Shooter" incidents for 2021 is out. Some interesting numbers are contained in the report. Not surprisingly California led the nation in incidents, it also has some of the most restrictive gun control laws on the books. In a twist of irony it appears that gun control laws actually work...............just not as intended.

The report also shows that the number of incidents ended by citizen involvement is on the rise. Yay for the good guys.

Also in the report is the number of deaths resulting from "Active Shooter" incidents. Although the numbers vary from year to year they still represent a small fraction of the total number of gun deaths annually. I understand that this is of no consolation to the victims or their families but the fact remains that certain legislators are considering draconian laws that will effect millions in an attempt to address what amounts to a minuscule problem.

FBI Report.

But how is that possible? Democrats promised banning the scary looking rifles would eliminate pistol violence problems.

How is it possible when we all know Democrats can't EVER be wrong about anything???

No one ever promised that.

You are always invoking Orwellian catchphrases -- but it is you who always demand we deny the evidence of our eyes and ears. You are an Inner Party man.

after mass shooting in Chattanooga TN, mayor urges Congress to do their job.
the teens were too young to legally be in possession of the weapons they used.
The mayor is a gun owner who describes himself as an "avid hunter," backing responsible gun ownership.

"I am a gun owner. I've been an avid hunter and marksman all my life—and so I want to say this clearly, I fully support responsible gun ownership, but Congress needs to do their jobs and pass common sense regulations that will help stop this nonsense," he said at a press conference, according to News Channel 9.
"That doesn't mean taking guns away from responsible gun owners, but it does mean mandatory background checks and prohibiting high-capacity magazines that allow shooters to hurt dozens of people without having to so much as reload," the mayor added.

Kelly also noted that "over the next few weeks" his administration will be announcing new steps to address gun violence.

I just bought a few ARs (10 and 15) for fund raising raffles. 3000 tickets will go in a few days

I love how the left has no rational arguments for shitting on the 99.9% because rare loons exist.

When do we ban cars because DUI's happen?

I got a pair of 15's and a 2nd SASS from DPMS a couple weeks ago, because Republicans are going to ban guns.
This reminds me, I need an upper and a parts group.

I also need to send one of my lung blower-outers back to the factory for a new slide/barrel combination. I want to alter it from full to commander length. Full Stainless is just too dam heavy to carry comfortably.

So, all of you law and order types ... bound by state laws, states rights over Federal law. ....

If you STATE enacted a law outlawing certain types of weapons and required owners to turn them in ..... would you comply?

Interesting question. Are you asking which person among us would willingly on a public forum profess to violating the law?

What I will tell you is that if such a hypothetical State did such a thing, the courts would more than likely temporarily enjoin the law from being enforced until after the trial and appeals have been concluded. Given the current makeup of the courts and precedent as well as the direction of the winds of change, the likelyhood of such a hypothetical law being determined to be Constitutional is nonexistent.

of course not. they only call 'states rights' over a topic they agree with.

Is a person who claims to be of 'law and order', but challenges laws in court, really a person who practices 'law and order'?

Is it my imagination or are most shootings and killings committed by young black males killing other young black citizens, 3 more AAs in Philadelphia alone, sad. Chicago: 28 shootings 4 dead. I wonder how many of these shooters have a list of priors and let out on cashless bail?

I wonder how many firearms used in these shootings were legal?

Oh look, the latest incarnation of BoBo (Uvalde Infantry) is declarin' victory and attempting to pivot to "but..but..car deaths!"

FBI Report.
By all means, my people, read Ishmael's link and marvel at his ability to spin things to fit Teh Narrative.

The number of "incidents ended by citizen involvement" has skyrocketed from a paltry TWO in 2019 to FOUR in 2020. That's a 100% increase and 100 is BIG number!

Two of the incidents "ended by citizen involvement" include a high school teacher who convinced a sobbing teenager to put his rifle down and a clerk who reached under the counter at a convenience store and shot a guy in the back who had just robbed him.

Good guys with guns indeed!

They buy up armor piercing bullets, high-capacity magazines, bump stocks and every other accessory at risk of becoming illegal, so no. They may never use them, but they can’t be without them.

Idiotic suggestions? I know! Let's make all the guns out of butter! Take that, Goering!
