Let's talk about guns, shootings, solutions and idiotic suggestions

What is "appropriate" to you violates the concepts of Ordered Liberty found in the US Constitution.

I have no problem with you getting to choose what's best for you. I do have a problem with you thinking you get to choose what's best for the rest of us.
funny how HisArpy keeps appointing himself as spokesperson for all Americans.

Why do I feel that, should he talk like this in an American restaurant,
he'd get spit and dandruff in his soup?

Hisarpy has never been for labelling drug addicts as criminals, that I can recall, he's a libertarian. His attitude has always been if they want to poison themselves then have at it.

what's a libertaraian? what do they stand for?

Another part of this is the teachers themselves. Who is drawn to teaching as a career? Sure there are some ex-military and law enforcement types, but many teachers are nurturers, not defense-minded security guards.
Teachers don't get enough support and training for curriculum, now they have to be guards as well? What would the main priorities be for hiring new staff?

The School Marshal Program is a good idea, train them. Let them have special trainings for teachers who are interested in being part of a fast response team, but don't try to arm Mrs. Dubois, the French teacher.
besides the other aburdities related to this proposal

I don't see any of these pro-gunners taking money out of THEIR pay cheques to pay teachers extra for this added duty.
Either tax-payers, including those who never owned a gun share the cost, or no rise in salaries.

on second thought, HA's and the pro-gunners thinking processes elude me.

Two options that I came up with so far:

1. As I mentioned before, HA Could be deluded that 90% of Americans, even the unarmed are with them and the NRA, and that the opposition are just a small vocal minority.
As in 90% of Americans agree that if you impinge on the rights of 10% (the Americans who want to arm themselves with machine guns) you will set the precedent and open Pandora's box towards impinging on other rights.

2. OR he/pro-gunners might well be aware that only 10% of Americans think like them, and that the majority, mothers in particular want gun control.
Yet they think that the 90% represent the demos who are either stupid or misguided, insightless. And that they (the 10%, the pro-gunner) are stepping in to fight for people who don't know what's really good for them, and for their liberty.

3. Underlying all these there's either idealism or selfishness, depending on the person.

Or how do they really think?
It's important for me to figure out their premises and their reasoning, these unsolvable debates are so baffling.

It's just like with wars, the Hiroshima bomb, the fashion industry and so many others.

I think that Elites (governments, the industrial-military and other billionaire business owners) manufacture our consensus for things that are against our own interest,

through ways more sophisticated than what Noam Chomsky said.
They must have the most accomplished psychologists and psy-ops on their payroll.

Minimal government and maximal personal freedom -- slash taxes, slash budgets, legalize "victimless crimes" like drug possession/dealing, etc. They are not merely moderate anarchists, however. Anarchism is a European leftist tradition closely associated with Marxism. Libertarianism is distinctly American, and anything but leftist. Libertarians are sometimes, with some justice, called "Republicans who smoke pot." In a nutshell, anarchists oppose the state because they see it as a guardian of private property, and libertarians oppose the state because they it as a threat to private property.

See also vulgar libertarianism.

And The 24 Types of Libertarians.

Many libertarians are Ayn Rand fans, but Rand herself was always hostile to the Libertarian Party -- for some reason -- maybe because it was an organization she did not control. For an apostle of liberty, she was quite the control freak. Her own organization was practically a cult, with all that implies.

"A libertarian is committed to the principle that liberty is the most important political value. Liberty means being free to make your own choices about your own life, that what you do with your body and your property ought to be up to you. Other people must not forcibly interfere with your liberty, and you must not forcibly interfere with theirs."

The right blindly refuses to support ANY logical rules and regulations that are suggested.

There haven't been any logical rules or regulations suggested .... not at a legislative level.

There have been a few from LEO's and folks who know a thing or two about the subject, but nobody wants to hear any of that shit. Experts only mean anything if they are toing a partisan line.

The left mean while, passes stupid ass laws that do nothing but make it harder on the legal, law abiding gun owner.

Yup. They're just straight up anti-2A.

It's time for both sides to get their head out of their asses and get some things done to protect those who can't protect themselves. It's time to stop the murder of our vulnerable, stop the killing of our kids and elderly who are dying for no other reason than the two sides are so invested, so narrow in their vision of how it should be, they can't see what needs be.

Comshaw

They both think what needs to be is their "narrow vision" which means ban all guns or don't and secure schools with something other than participation trophies and chicken shit cops.

Same reason at the core of most USA's political/social issues.... we are fundamentally divided at the core issue level. We simply DO NOT agree what rights people have and what the governments role is.

I personally think the federal government should be nothing more than a monetary and defense alliance. The ONLY two federal rights we should have is 1..... no cruel and unusual punishment. That's it.

For all the social and economic shit we need to let them both do their thing.

Blue states need to just ban/confiscate all the guns... ALL of them. Along with private property and all the other civil liberties and freedoms they want gone. CA, NY, NJ, WA, OR etc. need to create the woke communist utopia they all are just dying for. Fucking DO IT!!!!

The rest of us need to stand back and watch those fucking moron Democrats totally self destruct.

Since Republicans are saying it’s not the guns it’s the mental health of the shooter and point to all the missed signs and opportunities to intervene, surely we’ll see them sponsor much legislation and funding for programs and systems to be implemented so future “thoughts and prayers” won’t be necessary. Right?

No..... welfare and authoritarianism aren't the only options, Democrats maximum authoritarian mentality notwithstanding of course.

Absolutely.

If you want to kill yourself, then get 'er done boy! Stop pussyfooting around and making everyone else pay for it.

Did dumpy post a link up there about Canada when asked about American restrictions?

Fucker doesn't even understand .... oh never mind .....
It's about concepts, dimwit, not labels.

The problem starts with the family unit how many raised in 60's-80's had 2 parent home ? hence better morals and convictions
then we started to have 2 parents working less time for the kids, after that we started going to many single parent family's kids didn't get the supervision they needed add the computer gaming shootem up games kids are immersed in with no consequences poof their back alive tomorrow in the same game.

Its been generations slowly sliding backwards I don't have the answer, but we have to start punishing the criminals and putting them away like England did in the late 1700's no more slaps on the wrist out on bail or on 2nd offenses let them do some hard time like Sheriff Joe does in his prisons no air conditioning want to keep busy here's a deck of cards or a real library with books or gym with track and equipment, no convinces like cable TV, Internet just a few basic over the air tv channels (Judge Judy should be one;))

ok, so the House Judiciary dept has passed a package on gun control, but what does this actually mean in real terms? it's a 'proposal' to amend title 18, U.S Code: so what happens with that now? does it have to go through motions in the House (to be blocked at every turn by 'pugs') and then to the Senate which is currently looking at measures itself? is it something that has to end up on the President's desk to be signed into law (if it ever makes it that far before pugs abort it), or can the amendment take place purely within the confines of the House?

The committee passed the Democrat-backed “Protecting Our Kids Act” which links several gun control measures together.
The proposal raises the minimum purchase age to 21 for certain rifles and shotguns.
It also aims to prevent gun trafficking and requires all guns to be traceable.

resident finds damage to their walls (2) and police find neighbour 'accidentally' discharged ar-15... it went through his wall into the neighbour's apartment and exited through another wall. he's facing weapons and endangerment charges. one lucky neighbour who DIDN'T become a victim of a guy doing what he damned well likes with his legally owned gun in his own home, right?

After an investigation, it was determined that the bullet had been fired earlier in the morning, at approximately 1:00 AM, as a neighbor was manipulating a legally owned Windham AR-15 rifle. The owner of the weapon did not intentionally fire it, and did not notify the police or neighbors that it had occurred.

While investigating this incident, the defendant, identified as Claude Weinstein, 51, was also found to be in possession of an ArmaLite AR-10 rifle, which had characteristics making it illegal to possess in New York State.

Maine: gun give back days being organised
Besides Falmouth, police in Kennebunk, Saco, Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth, Yarmouth, Brunswick, Bath, Topsham, and Waterville will accept guns.
”Maybe someone’s given up hunting? Maybe this was handed down from a relative that passed away?” Bickford said. “It’s one less gun that may be picked up by a teenager that’s suffering from some crisis, acts impulsively.”Kilbride said, “If one gun is unwanted, and it’s out of the house, that’s good enough for me.”

action in San Antonio:
While they wait for the Texas legislature to take action, Wolff said officials will begin steps to curb gun violence – within the scope of authority – in Bexar County. District Attorney Joe Gonzales revealed that the county will destroy every weapon in any case that involves one moving forward. Even in cases where the defendant's lawyers disagree, Gonzales said they will file a motion to destroy the weapon.

Gonzales said officials will also prosecute someone who is in possession of a gun with illegal "Glock switches." The quarter-sized device transforms a semi-automatic weapon into what's qualified as a machine gun. Even if the device isn't attached to a gun, if found in someone's possession, it is still qualified as a machine gun.
"You've got no business with that switch because the only reason to have that is to convert that weapon to an automatic weapon," Gonzales said. "If you have that in your possession, and if that case is filed with us, we will prosecute you."

The two measures will start on Monday, June 6.
