I assume it's so that when idiots press old buttons and complain about changes, the poor bastard they end up talking to can explain that they should have listened to the options. It's like how if you apply for a confidential status with the US government, they ask you nicely whether you're a member of a group dedicated to taking down the government by force. It's not so that they know. It's so that when they find out, they can do something about it instantly. Same train of thought. They don't care whether you know the options have changed. They want ammunition for when you complain.
