Is there a story of yours close to an H that doesn’t have one?

My scores remain about the same since I opened this thread. It’s frustrating, but well, I know I did all the work I could when I published each tale. They’re all masterpieces in their own way and the lasting scores I’ve seen are fair as far as I know. I hope for better quality in the future. We’ll see.

Go to my profile, look me up. All my stories need more attention. I also don’t honestly know if any hold your interest. I don’t want people sucked into something they don’t want to experience by low ratings sympathy alone. [sigh]

This is the story for which I started this thread- https://literotica.com/s/the-beijing-streakers

It’s fanfic, hope that’s okay with you. The action starts with a fictional streaking incident at the 2008 Beijing Olympics by athletes protesting certain things. The plot then features a chase, a rescue of the athletes by a secret society, and the biggest orgy I have depicted thus far. 16 participants, male and female, threesomes and duo encounters, interracial pairings, incest, straight and lesbian, generally vanilla kinks, exhibitionism, polyamory… I worked hard on this story and it just needs four more votes that recognize that to achieve the little letter rating that is so coveted here.

Part of it’s my fault, getting peeved at low rating bombers and sweeps making votes disappear. I turned off votes on all my Lit stories for years in frustration, resolving to think of them as “hidden gems”. I still think of them that way after reaching new confidence levels, but I want people to be able to leave good ratings if they so desire. So voting was reactivated and will stay on.

The second story I mentioned in this thread can be found here- https://literotica.com/s/rekindled-2

It’s a femslash fanfic for two actresses on Halloween night. B lister worked with A lister on a small print film, had a one night stand that got pretty intense. Now she wants to revive the relationship, but there are challenges. Or maybe not. Ah, the travails of Hollywood swinging.

I know people may not share my opinion of my stories, but I hope they can be enjoyed for plot and style even if you lack familiarity with the fanfic elements. There’s plenty of humor and immersive emotions too.

Read each story if you like, and if so inclined, leave the rating you think the story deserves. I hope you enjoy your time. Later.

Its best when asking for a favor to not make people work for it ;-)

Thanks for the links. The stories are good :)

I have one which was until recently, safely ensconced at 4.52 but has in recent weeks slid down to 4.49. I know I shouldn't care but it irritates me nonetheless.

Thought I already replied to this, but apparently not lol

I have several, two in particular right on the, um, Red line.

https://literotica.com/s/we-all-have-needs-1

We All Have Needs: a short simple tale of two strangers hooking up at an Adult book store. Been at 4.49 for ages.

https://literotica.com/s/my-daughter-the-nudist-1

MY Daughter, The Nudist. Currently at 4.46.

A story I think disappointed some readers because, despite the title, there's no incest.

I'm not gonna beg people to read them and give them 5s.

I mean, read them if you wanna. Rate them what you think they deserve.

I don't see an under 4.5 score as a "bad thing."

4 means they liked it. If your score is above a four, be happy. It means most people liked it.

I really enjoyed this one. Bravo.

Thanks. Much appreciated.

I think MOST readers did get my intent with the story; not like my rating got utterly destroyed or anything. I think 4.46 is quite respectable.

And it's not like I'm against incest stories, I've written several.

Just wanted to do something different on this one.

I have one that's on 4.78, but lit's been stuck on 9 votes for an age. It's the third tale in my Sword & Sorcery series The Rivals (https://literotica.com/s/the-rivals-ch-03-the-demon-hunt).

I understand that being part of a series might turn some readers off, but it's largely self-contained. Chapter 2 ended with warrior woman Avilia and scholar/explorer Sligh parting ways as they escape from the scene of a robbery, she on her giant bird, he on this giant lizard.

I wasn't going to post this, because I don't want to seem needy, but the first story in my sword & sorcery series The Rivals (https://literotica.com/s/the-rivals-ch-01-dark-encounters) has been sitting at 4.48 for the better part of a month now. After an initial surge, a few low ratings forced the average down and now it's just not doing anything, when according to my calculations a single 5-star would put it at exactly 4.5.
I saved this to read later. The introduction sounds great!

I'm curious how this thread as worked out in the sense of did it help or hurt. I'm sure some well meaning people went and dropped a five on a story that's hovering on the line, but I'm also sure some of the ghosting trolls have run off to land a bomb on some of the stories as well.

What has anyone who posted a story here seen?
My story has gone down by 0.01, which could be due to anything.

The danger of course with admitting to having stories one rates as being amongst the better ones and as being close to the mark is that drawing attention to them encourages the trolls to one-bomb them.
Perhaps it is healthier to regard niche audiences as more important - one of my worst-rated stories has the most reads and the most favourites of anything I have written. Admittedly that was in LW, but my two previous incursions had fewer negative or positive reactions.
In the end. one should write what appeals to oneself. I must admit to being inspired by TheRachelChronicles who unfortunately gave up writing a few years ago, but having characters who are confused interests me.

Some people like and care about scores, grades, etc. Some don't care so much.

I think its fine for people to want a little help if it makes sense.

If I don't feel that a story warrants a 5 star rating when requested, I simply read it and move on with no down-ratings.

I had a story that has been published for 15 months and finally hit a Red H over the weekend. A vote later and it's back to 4.49 again.

I'm not begging for more fives or risking getting ones, so I won't link. Just thought those on this thread could appreciate. Given another 15 months and I'm sure it'll be safely above...

I sorta question whether this thread is a great idea. I mean, the intent is clearly pure: authors work hard on their content and we want to support each other. And don't get me wrong, I have a recent story at 4.46/69, so it's not like I don't understand. I personally think it deserves a little more attention and I certainly would like to see it pop off.

But you can't really fight the algorithm with this small volume of votes, and generating a larger volume of votes is clearly just cheating. Honestly, I would argue that petitioning for even this small number of votes is still cheating the system, but I don't worry about it because I don't think it can make a long term difference.

If we manage to collectively, with our 5-10 votes, push a story temporarily over the 4.5 line, the increased exposure should theoretically almost immediately correct it to its "true" value below the line. I think the only exception is stories that have been mildly review-bombed by a malicious actor, because the increased exposure could draw positive attention that pushes them over the top and keeps them there. In all other cases, it seems like collusion at worst and pointless at best.

But maybe there's something I'm not getting.

I don't find anything to disagree with what you wrote, statistically speaking, a handful of votes will not have done much once your story reaches a few hundred votes and reaches it's "true value" as you described.

Still, for something we worked hard on, I think it is natural to want to fight for it and try to offset the review bombers, at least while it's possible mathematically. Right now, the second chapter to my story is 3-4 votes away from hitting that goal benchmark. I would love to see it hit that goal, especially after seeing how lurkers hit my other chapters the second they were posted. Luckily the numbers are climbing but it looks like I may have pissed someone off or there is some troll out there downvoting everything that gets posted.. *shrugs* the numbers will later tell.

Another point worth considering (and this is true for me at least,) is that cheerleading for my story afterwards like this keeps me a little connected and draws out the process before I "let it go into the wild" to fend for itself. I'll start a new story soon enough, but for now I'm still attached to my first. <-- embarrassed admittance. LOL

I have a new series called Dani’s Secret Garden. Part 1 has stayed Hot for awhile now and part 3 is too new but so far so good! My issue is part 2 was 4.21 last I checked….so frustrating when it’s close but not quite. Lol
