Is there a story of yours close to an H that doesn’t have one?

This story is a good example of why I don't fret over scores too much. It was one of my favorites to write. It has a whimsical quality with elements of magic, and I think those elements are part of what turned off some readers to it, causing the score to drop. But I had fun and plenty of other readers seemed to have fun, so that's what matters.
This is my favourite story of yours, the whimsical mood is spot on, and it's sexy. It's got a genuine feel to it, too, which your penguin stories don't.

I wasn't going to post this, because I don't want to seem needy, but the first story in my sword & sorcery series The Rivals (https://literotica.com/s/the-rivals-ch-01-dark-encounters) has been sitting at 4.48 for the better part of a month now. After an initial surge, a few low ratings forced the average down and now it's just not doing anything, when according to my calculations a single 5-star would put it at exactly 4.5.

I am raising my hand! I have two right there, just under 4.5.

But of the two, the dearest to my heart is Grampy Taught Me Everything I Know! It is a whimsical short story about a bright-innocent-naive young thing whose grandfather is the apple of her eye, and she is his. It's about coming of age under the tutelage of the wisest person she knows - Grampy. The somewhat sentimental story is from her POV. It takes us through a lot of time in Grampy's vegetable garden and all the erotic things she experiences there, even the influence of ancient Indian spirits. There is also a good deal of humor as she transitions from home-schooling into her senior year at a regular high school - that's entertaining.

It has, forever, had 19K views, a 4.49 score by 103 who took the time to vote, a handful of appreciative comments, and a bit of a grouse comment by one person since I didn't go into explicit details of those mandatory sex acts he wanted.

If you have time, please check it out. And, of course, leave a frank vote up or down and a comment if you please.

Does a score of 4.33 rate as "Close to a H"?
If not, consider this pure story promotion & trawling for readers which is hopefully allowed & tolerated? Once a story falls off the new story screen, it becomes relatively invisible - I don't find too many ways to increase visibility?

Story is called "Secret Stranger" about a girl being groped at a rock concert by a stranger & finally letting herself go & taken by the stranger who she never sees and never tells her husband about.
No backstory or character building in this 2K word story - just raw sexual fantasy

the Colonel's Wife has been sitting at 4.48 since mid-July and it's so agonizingly close, that it does bug me. But as a LW story, I know I should be thankful for what I get.
You did something to please the LW denizens. Yet it may be a long time, if ever, before anyone votes on it again. I've noticed that people will favorite an old story and then neglect to vote on it. Short attention spans, I guess. "Oops, my tuna salad is dripping on the keyboard."

A commenter earlier made a good point, the "H" does help draw in more readers from what I've seen, so being close and not having it can be frustrating! Especially if you are a new writer and each vote/comment helps to motivate you to continue.

I have one that is literally one vote from pushing over (I did the math, haha!) Keeping her Job - Pt 4

I would appreciate any help. I'm going through this board and helping too.

One of mine Sailing Lessons has been stuck at 4.89 with 9 votes for ages. Kind of strange, given that all other installments in the series have gotten at least 20 votes, some well over 100. Go figure.

I have one that is about to drop below 4.5 I think. It had been securely in the red H zone, but in the last few days I've had a storm of low scores and it's suddenly sliding downwards.

I shouldn’t care but I do.

A few kind readers (including apparently @BgDaddy33 ) have upvoted the story to that irrationally pleasing little red H. Thanks, all! And I hope you really liked to story.

I will read your story soon - I see you went well over the 4.5 - well done!

I'm curious how this thread as worked out in the sense of did it help or hurt. I'm sure some well meaning people went and dropped a five on a story that's hovering on the line, but I'm also sure some of the ghosting trolls have run off to land a bomb on some of the stories as well.

What has anyone who posted a story here seen?

Virility is up past 4.5 now; not by much, but by enough. I got some nice comments, too.

I saw a quick jump but I also saw just as quick, a drop but with no comment. I know that comments take longer to show up, so I would be curious to see if I was left some feedback along with a lower vote, but my first impression was like you said, some ghosting troll.

I'm placated knowing that each person can only vote once, so I have to hope that the H will hold to attract new readers.

Sweeps are when Laurel / Manu run a script on the vote database. It identifies - via magic - votes that are likely in bad faith (both 1s and 5s) and deletes them. It seems to work, but it’s top secret how.

Em
Interesting. I can imagine how that might work.
