Is it a mistake to include too many taboos in one story?

Hi!

So I've been outlining my first ever story for literotica for a number of weeks now, and I'm starting to really like where it's going. BUT. I'm starting to worry I've included one too many taboos, to the point that it might alienate readers that otherwize might like the series.

The specific taboo I'm worried about is the non-human one. What I've read on the site so far gives me the impression that I'm considering adding something there doesn't seem to be much love for (just my impressions.)

Plainely, I'd like to give my old, ugly evil orc character a pig-like penis. That's it. And since the story's most prevalent taboos are old/young, reluctance and ugly bastard, I think it would fit nicely (in my mind) if I gave the orc something a bit more ugly and twisted.

Would appreciate anyone's thoughts on this. Is it just better to give the character a normal green looking dick like most fantasy stories do? Please, tell me what you think.

It's perfectly fine to have extreme fantasies. Usually, the more extreme the fantasies are, the greater the number of readers who will be put off by them, but those readers who do share your extreme kinks will appreciate your story even more. You win some, you lose some, basically.
It's up to you to find the right balance of it. The advice I can give from my personal experience is not to overdo it. It's usually not worth turning everything up to eleven and end up losing a significant number of potential readers, assuming being read by a good number of readers matters to you. If you only care about putting your fantasies out there, then go ahead and let your mind run free and write it as extreme as you feel like. That is a perfectly valid approach too.

Judging by the tone of your post, it seemed to me that you were concerned about reaching/pleasing your readers, thus the specific advice I offered. ;)

I appreciate your advice. I can't say I've decided yet, but I am leaning towards turning it down a notch since I writing for nieche group of people already. Thanks for your feedback ^^

Unless your readers happen to be farmers, would they even know what a pig-like penis looks like?

Do... do I even want to image search it?

I understand the concern. One of the biggest problems I have with someone like Gary LM Martin is that he adds more and more weirdness to his stories so that before long I just can't process any more of it. That's not his only problem by any means, but it is a big one.

But, you're already writing orc erotica. I think you're far enough beyond standard conventions that no one will be too upset about your fantasy creature having the wrong kind of fantasy anatomy.

Oh... šŸ˜

...corkscrew...

...pig-like. corkscrew. penis.

And, having been reminded of that odd fact, I will now try my hardest now to once again forget it. šŸ˜Œ

Hence my concern šŸ˜‚ To be fair those pictures are 100% pig. What I'm contemplating is just pig-like, so the head of the penis is what would be most similar, then maybe it has a screwlike texture to it, but that's it. It would still very much look like something that belongs on a humanoid.

It's... different. Can't say it would be my thing, but then I can't say that orcs are either.

I say go for it and see what happens. :)

Orcs are fantasy creatures, you can give them whatever physical features you want. If I read a story that described an orc having a corkscrew penis, I wouldn't bat an eye at it.

I picture a pig-like penis as being short, slightly upturned, with a flat head and two holes.

You're contemplating writing about an orc, for God's sake! What the fuck does it matter what his cock looks like?

That's Overthinking 101, it really is.

Why not make it a fantasy penis that a pig would want? I'm thinking little pig ear-flaps on the side, and a flat blunt nose at the tip. Go for it!
Seriously, I've worried about introducing too many genres or fetishes into a story. Start off with a loving wives story, and she winds up a Dominatrix, with a cuckold husband who is experimenting into all-male gang bangs. The comments are not forgiving, and some will love it.

I've posted a bunch of chapters of an incest taboo dom sub with some pee story... and it's getting 4.4 votes on average. I get a lot of compliments regarding my "story telling" etc.

I posted a story with a werewolf theme... and it's sitting at about 3.8.

Based on this massive data set - yes, don't touch non human!

:)

(To anyone wanting chapter 2 of my non-human story, maybe in 2025...)

My stories tend have lots of taboos going on.
peeing/smoking/drunkenness and the associated mess and chaos associated with it.

I cater for a very small niche...but some like it

Put that 2nd one in the loving werewolves genre and you're looking at 1.8.

I went with the Hyena, and gave my orc women pseudo-penises. It is an aspect that works in numerous aspects of the story, and it had a generally strong response everywhere I posted Twrrible Company.

Even then, the pseudo-penis was more like a Bad Dragon toy than anything in nature

I had to check! I had it in Non Human. :) :)

The story was about a young couple experiencing their first time "swapping"... just turns out the other couple aren't quite who they appear to be. :) I guess I could put it in Loving Wives :)
