Ingnore Function Creates Junior GB's for The Less Skilled

I favour the use of the Ignore feature by those with the inability to deal with the wide variety of people and Opinions available here on the GB.

By ignoring those they can't yet handle, the less intellectually-abled can have their own Beginner GB's, or GB Lite, or GB Select.....narrowing the viewpoints they see to suit their own abilities.

In this way, we can grow users into one day being able to use the Full GB without losing them to their own limitations in debate and/or understanding.

I therefore support the use of Ignore by those with any reduced or limited capacity to engage in debate or exchanges with others.

I think that there's a difference between putting someone on ignore because you can't handle the discussion and putting a person on ignore because he or she is flooding the board with annoying threads.

I ignore people who annoy me in real life, so why not ignore them on here?

Besides, I hate the idea of missing any potentially choice fun-fodder, no matter who says it!

I tend to shoot from the hip here and IRL, so having a few find me difficult to accept is neither new nor particularly relevant to me.

But I must admit that seeing Ish, DCL and a few others take their marbles and go home is a bit of a drag....cuz they were always such amusing prey to watch writhing on the board now and then.

Hey Hanns...nobody's ever even so much as landed a punch on me, ever. Scraps with me end very quickly. Nature tends to bless the big and strong with lots of patience though, so no worries pal.

I have one person on ignore - reasons are personal. Other than that - I don't see the need.

I can "ignore" people without putting them on ignore. Hey, people can post what they like - so what? I post what I want to post and don't give a shit who ignores me. If I don't like something, then I can leave the thread.

It's just being selective. I don't have a lot of time, and the ignore feature is like Draino, removing those nasty clogs. I give everyone a chance, but once someone has convinced me that they are stuck on permanent repeat I reserve the option to shut the window. Just because I pick up a book doesn't mean I have to finish it.
