Impatience

You lost the battle, Bunkie.

As recideva and Second have posted, no one has to be told that, if it's true. :D I'm content by what thinking readers will take away from this thread. Which, from you, is mostly shell game so far.

So plan B then.

Then please, cease your interest in "proof" when you can't accept it unless it matches your terms and your tone and your intended results.

It's on you to behave better or not.

This isn't the teaching moment you wanted, but it's the one you got. Deal or no deal.

What's plan B? :D

I think the thread is quite clear so far.

And you still can't spell my name right and simply won't capitalize it.

Petty or ignorant, it doesn't really matter.

Whatever.

But I'm not bringing the good stuff here to be trolled.

I learned the first time, you cant post comments and post stories.

Here's one way I know you're a good writer Pilot. You do this thing where you take something and word it in a way that makes it seem like you've had some sort of altruistic reason for being rude to someone. Then you sprinkle in a little bit of nobility to your theme. Then, you take "facts" and try to say that you've got em, and we don't. (Whatever the hell that has to do with anything at all.) You twist up these words and try to use irrelevant things about someone else to make them seem so wrong and yourself seem angelic or heroic.

The facts? JBJ plagiarized. Or whatever happened. He may or may not be making up his "alt E". JBJ has been rude, misleading, and argumentative to everyone in the past. JBJ has his own strange ways. You are knowledgeable about writing and the forum, and helpful to those that need advice.

Those are facts. And they are exactly NOT what we have a problem with. That's not "what's on trial" I guess you could say. Your facts you like so much stand.

My facts are written all over this page. And I'm not going to twist words or divert attention. JBJ made an opening post referencing his mysterious green E. You could have ignored it and minded your own business and passed him off. Instead you stirred up shit by calling him out. You did this to help those that don't know JBJ? So they don't follow his breadcrumbs to the oven? Perhaps. In part. But mostly to be an ass. When Recidiva tried to carry on the OP's topic, you continued to remind... er... save Recidiva from JBJ by repeating that he's making shit up, something she chose to ignore. And so forth.

That's written plainly. All down the page. That's what the problem was. You being an ass and thinking it's okay because JBJ has been an ass. Because the new people need to know he's a phony? Oh thank you Pilot! Oh happy day! You've guided me from the evil influences of an internet forum monster! (Spoken in southern damsel voice)

Make no mistake, you still have my respect for being a good writer and sharp mind. And in the end, I still think that we should all just learn to have the capacity to be adults and carry on discussion without being a douche, even to someone you think is a douche. If you're so much better than JBJ, seems like you could act like it from time to time and not stoop to his level.

It's a fucking green E Pilot. If he's making it up let him have it. If not so what. And if someone (newbies) is dumb enough to follow the breadcrumbs, then there never was any hope in saving them from the oven in the first place.

Now let's get a beer and talk patience.

It's not on purpose. And it's an attempt at silly shell game deflection on your part. But I don't mind you exhibiting this way.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. I did so because I am concerned about the guidance that writers seeking guidance come here to get. That you either don't believe that, overlook it, or just want to tee off on me about it is your problem, not mine. I'll continue to give seeking writers the best guidance I was trained to give on writing and publishing. I'll leave the Internet gaming and the false concept that everyone is equal on posting to the Internet to you and others.

PILOT rolled the dice and lost. He caught me holding a paw fulla aces this time.

Birch beer for me and I'm good to go. I also have some really good enchiladas I could share.

There are a few more little philosophical guidelines that are useful in developing not false patience, but real patience.

Making sure that you're aware of free will and that people have the right to do what they are going to do with their own lives can grant a helpful barrier between your actions and another person's expectations.

Also, if someone does cross that barrier, I reserve the right to stomp their feet to jelly, though I'll just smile until they get to that point, though I may or may not point out that boundary if they are really looking for a fight. I'm not necessarily going to turn down a fight if I feel I'm opposing a bully. I am not looking for a fight, but I won't back away. The more I define my boundaries against bullies, the more examples of doing so I can provide. It's not necessarily for the bully's benefit, though that can happen too.

My space is in fact my space. I will give warnings and gradients and explanations and then if ignored, then I can defend my personal borders.

One philosophical guideline is "One of the hardest things to do is to become tolerant of intolerance." and the other is "To become serene with someone else's folly is very difficult, but people give you many opportunities to practice."

PILOT the truth is you wanna be the writing guru here, and it rattles you awful that LOVECRAFT has done so well so soon. The boy leaps tall buildings and stops speeding locomotives. And now ole Jim has a green E. OMG

What I get a kick out of is according to Pilot no one is supposed to believe JBJ has a green E

But we are all supposed to believe Pilot's long list of absurd accomplishments and experiences none of which he an provide a lick of proof for.

Hey Kettle the pots calling you!:D

You could have ignored him or not. That's kinda straightforward. You didn't because you care about the new writers or oblivious people that may seek guidance from JBJ.

Maybe LC could have avoided you or not a million times. He obviously thinks you're full of shit too. Eye of the beholder maybe? Maybe he just wants to warn bread crumb followers of your rudeness and arrogance? You're doing the same to JBJ that has been done to you. Aren't you better than that?

I dunno six in one, half dozen in the other. The respectable and responsible thing to do would have been Recidiva's approach.

You have a really good point here. Each of our patience has been tested here. Particularly on how well we communicate disagreements here. Certainly, there are those that have no patience for JBJ and his evil oven.

So... the thread... did stay on topic. That makes JBJ a master thread weaver!! I give him one green E for his majestic and clever string pulling! (Insert golf clap here)

It did actually stay on topic if I could help it.

I just used the environment.

Patience has a great deal to do with assumptions, and there is a great deal to be said about reading comprehension. I know you have to make some assumptions about people, but the conviction with which expound upon their conclusions is a bit of a mystery as to its relevance or importance.

There is truly enough discord in the world that there is no reason to add to it over something so incredibly stupid.

If I'm going to be forced into a stupid argument despite trying to sidestep it, I can at least make it worth my time and make a point with it if I can.

If you read carefully you can tell the people who listen and the people who don't.

Patience is pretty hard when it comes to some things. Sometimes it doesn't dictate when you act so much as how you act. It's about understanding your surroundings and using the best way to approach it.

I like the bit on tolerance earlier, as we can't have tolerance without patience. Tolerance may even be a child of Patience.

It's very difficult for me to be tolerant of the Westboro Baptist Church's right to do what they do.

I am inclined to hit people. However, I realize that all I would have done would be to let them make me hate, and I won't let them.

I might have a visceral reaction that might lean toward hate, but I will alter its trajectory on its way through my brain.

I might, however, organize protests to make sure they can't get any sleep. That sort of thing.

No one seeks guidance from me. I cant think of anyone who has. I offer my wares from my own little LITEROTICA flea market stall. And 99% of people hoist their noses and pass me by.

But the really really dangerous thing is, I aint always wrong. PENNLADY learned it the hard way a couple of weeks ago when she flung shit at a post of mine she hadn't read. She pissed on her foot in front of the world. I may be the devil but you gotta pay the devil his due.

I think that's patience. To have control over your reactions.

I know people and family that have absolutely no filter. For anything they say. Not just mean things or something like that. And honestly being outspoken is a good trait to have. I like people who speak their mind.

Just... not all of their mind. People I see every day just say shit without even thinking about what their words would mean to someone. Doesn't matter. If they don't like what I say screw em. That's their attitude.

There's outspoken and then there's stupid. Sometimes, having the patience to think about what you say is the best way.

No one has to agree with what you do or say or think, JBJ. But at least if I disagreed with you, I'd tell you up front that I just flat out don't agree. Might even use some colorful language, but I'm not gonna disguise what I'm doing to you as "battling evil" or whatever pilot said it was.

We don't have to agree. And on a lot of points, me and you don't jive. But we still can have a discussion and be adults.

Or have patience. Ha! There it is again.

You're pretty overblown in your particular pet-peeve ways of being offensive.

But time after time I end up defending you, because people don't read what you say, but have decided they know how you think, and that's more important. It isn't actually more important to me. I am not a practicing psychic.

I don't think you're the devil either, just someone who doesn't like to explain himself and is unapologetic for having completely bass-ackward opinions about some things.

But I swear if you started a thread about a good coffee cake recipe, it would be flooded with people saying:

"HE SAYS TO USE BAKING SODA BUT HE REALLY MEANS ARSENIC"

"DO NOT MAKE THAT COFFEE CAKE!"

"HOW COULD YOU LISTEN TO HIM ABOUT COFFEE CAKE?!"

Yes, I think patience is required because actions themselves are important in their ramifications, so if you can take the time to make absolutely clear that you're doing the best you can do under the best information, over time that works out to the good.

I am outspoken, and here I'll argue about silliness pretty much endlessly if I'm in the mood.

In reality if I think I'm doing actual damage, I'll walk away. I'm less interested in being right than I am in trying to see someone else's way to see things. I generally don't speak to people I don't care about. I'm lucky in that sense. I work at home as an editor, so as long as I spell things correctly, my boss is happy. If I get up early every day for ten years to do that job and never miss it unless someone is actually dying, then that's more happiness. My main contact is with friends and family, and my work has mostly gotten used to the fact that I'm going to do things my way and if they want them done right, let me do what I do.

Every now and then I insist on my way, and I can usually get it when it is really important to me, because I allow other people their things that aren't as important to me if I can accommodate them.

I know. I'm not deaf to complaints or unaware of how I am. Long ago I attended training seminars where fools tried to teach us how to manage assholes, and I always played THE ASSHOLE, me and a black woman named Gwen. Gwens the best asshole in the history of Earth. I have my persona, which everyone knows and loves. Gwen had hers. And we usta seriously piss off the trainers. To prove they were blow hards.

I also like to fuck with hypnotists. They go fuggin crazy when you go a different way, take the road less travelled.

If I sense that you have an attitude with me, and we've never mixed it up, I'll fuck with you and your attitude. If I got it wrong I'll back off and treat you better. See I find its best to discover whether someones head is already a barnacle on a dog turd. I insult them and they go sulk and leave me alone. Plus some people need people like me to light their fire.

And controversy is great PR. Its like tv wrestling.
