What Do You HANDwrite In?

I like the weird and nerdy notebooks at Cognitive Surplus. They have some cool ones, and they're good quality. I find I like the dot grid better than the standard lines, too, for some reason. I'm currently working through a six pack of them, which was kinda fun because you get a random six, and it was much cheaper that way.
I do not need to buy a bunch of these.

I am the walking cliche of having an art degree I do not at all use. Though lately I’ve felt the pull to start drawing again.
I'm of the opinion that most college degrees prepare us to be better humans, better thinkers, and better communicators, not to give us specifically practical job skills, which can usually be learned in six to twelve months on the job 😁

I am sure that is true for many. As you say they demonstrate an ability to become proficient in a subject.

But they can be more: mine taught me some technical skills that landed me my first job and were a shortcut to a professional qualification has secured me jobs around the world.

I shouldn't have clicked on this. I already nerd out a lot whenever I watch something from Bungu Store or anything related to Japanese stationery.

As a teacher I can tell this is more a fact than an opinion.

In high school I used to handwrite stories and notes all the time. I had a yellow legal pad that I still have lying around somewhere with about a hundred page of notes and angsty teenage short stories I would dread to read now

I tried keeping journals, but I have a tendency to spiral especially if I'm talking at/to myself, so about half the pages are me starting off by talking about something, then devolving into fury or sorrow or rambling insanity, so I stopped. It would sometimes get so bad that the words weren't even legible, just angry slashes approximating language. Trauma, fun stuff :p

Like a few other people, my handwriting is also atrocious. I tried to make it pretty, but when I wrote pretty it would take fucking forever and was the most annoying thing for someone who tends to think at a million miles an hour, so I gave up on that in favor of speed and developed my own weird style of shorthand. But I'm usually on my computer nowadays, so writing something down just doesn't seem all that feasible, since the only things I write tend to be story related, and it's nice to have all my notes in one place, on my computer.

To be fair, that's one of the points of journaling.

I never hand write stories. Keyboard for me. For one, I have terrible handwriting. It's always been terrible. Even I don't like to look at it. And it's so much easier to write and edit at a computer.

Does that consist of scratches with your long talons? Hah! My turn to make a comment like that.

I had the good fortune of perusing stationery in Japan once and bought some. If only I had something to actually write in it. 😅

Moleskin notebook for my journal. For writing my stories on this site I used a composition book for some and loose ruled paper that I had in a binder for others.
