let me get you up to date...

I live in an apartment complex. Each apartment has an alarm system. I've never set mine, and still the alarm company sends the police to my house saying that my alarm is going off. This has been happening since October of 2000. Each time the alarm goes off, I get charged 50 dollars. My bill is at $1050.

I wrote, I visted, I talked to the alarm company, the police, the apartment management. The first time they sent a maintenance guy who unplugged it, and pulled out the alarm. I still got police visits. Finally just two weeks ago after receiving a letter that all my property is going to be seized in the state of maryland if I don't pay this bill, the alarm company sent a guy to fix the alarm.

OK... now here's the rant part.

I just got a letter from the alarm company saying that it is my fault I didn't get the alarm checked every month and I owe the money and they're not paying. After almost two years of this bullshit, of me writing and talking they blame me. I've never even fucking set the damn alarm. I am calling everyone and no one is in their office. Not my apartment management, not the state comptroller, not the alarm people. I'm about ready to kill someone.

Try the guy who supposedly fixes your alarm

Does everyone else in oyur building have this problem?

I don't know. I do know, however, that the guy who "fixed" the alarm, said he was just rerouting the false alarm somewhere else. So, I'm sure someone else is on the receiving end of this bullshit now.

I'm off to the business office to kick some ass...

I'll tell you how it goes. <trying to calm down>

Kick some ass PB.
Let me know and I will drive up from VA and hold them while you beat them.

On a more serious note.....this should be something that the Alarm Company and the Leasing office work out. If all else fails you can report the incident to the BBB and let them try to work it out for you.

Perks, one three letter word will say more to them then any four letter word.

SUE.

Is she really good at getting alarms fixed? :D

Seriously though...

Send this "return receipt requested"

I have been advised to have you provide copies of all the service and billing records and for my complex for the past 7 years and to contact the Better Business Bureau. Please have them to me within seven (7) business days or show suitable basis for your refusal in writing. Further, please advise me immediately who you would prefer the Better Business Bureau contact to effect the appropriate resolution to the confusion surrounding this situation.

Yours sincerely,

Get copies of the police reports of their visit and see if there is any mention of you stating your alarm is disconnected or that you have had this prob in the past. Get copies of the service techs visits as well looking for the same thing. Once you find evidence to support what you have been saying tell them you are gonna sue not only for the money owed to the police but for the time and aggravation each call caused you and for the time it took to get it resolved..

Fuck'em.
