I used to be exclusively Chat, but I'm now almost 100% Forum

I'm in the process of what seems to be a complete transition from Chat to Forum.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Most of my reasons, though, are more specific to me than systemic.

I suppose right now I just feel that Forum suits me better. It allows me to express myself better and show more of my sexuality and sense of humor.

I tried to talk to people about it in open chat. Nobody seemed to really care, they're Chatters and many don't even know what Forum is. I never saw many who did both.

I don't have a question. I'm just talking. Jump in if you want.

I ditched chat a while back. Always felt a bit samey or else like there was some in joke going on which I didn't get. Forum lets me post in detail. People either like or they don't. I'm ok with that.

Yeah I hear you about th inside jokes. Also, sometimes it's just dominated by a few people that know each other and it shuts down everyone else.

Some of the forum threads are a bit exclusive too. Try and break into them or avoid them. On the forum there's always another thread to join or start one yourself - like you just did!

I start some though not recently. Occasionally one takes off, some flame and die, most fizzle out fairly quickly. A metaphor for my sex life perhaps. I love posting on other threads. Nothing posted nothing gained.

Yeah, the Lobby csn be chaos at times. Most of the other Rooms are pretty dead. As a woman, i get crap tonnes of private messages, which are considerably lower quality than the ones i get here.

I think it relies on getting the right people sucked into a well thought out topic.

AmPics has several successful, self feeding threads, but I think you have to have the time to stoke the fire, which most of us do not. That assumes of course you're into sharing yourself like that. There are a couple though that seem to be more of a personalized hangout.

Otherwise, find a few of the long running threads, like the games in The Playground and make yourself a regular. You'll find your people pretty quick that way.

I like the anonymity & privacy of chat. Next day no one knows what’s been said. Whereas in the forum you can get notifications for things I said months ago & had long forgotten about.

I’ve only been in Lit a short while. Looked at chat originally and it seemed very “quick” and random. I was seeking more substantial “conversations “ on a few topics so searching the Forum and then engaging in private messages from there has proven more satisfying. However, I became chagrined then ultimately amused by a large number of individuals in a forum that indicate they want to chat about a specific topic and then when I attempt to start a conversation, they ghost or respond in very short sentences and don’t really have much to say or just “like” my comments.
It confused me at first but then I learned to lower my expectations.
