I think these are two of the dumbest things I've read about lately

This still comes nowhere near the idiots who conducted the study saying Bert and Ernie were gay and then made a production about it.

Let's try this again losers

Minnie and daisy ARE NOT REAL THEY ARE CARTOON CHARACTERS. GET A FUCKING LIFE AND A REAL JOB AND STOP TRYING TO MAKE A NAME FOR YOURSELVES.

I'd voice objections b/c they look so stupid. I'd never have guessed that was Minnie or Daisy just looking at the pictures.

I, too, think they just look terrible. As for protesting, though, if you don't, it becomes hegemonic and that much more difficult to do something about. I wouldn't be part of the protest myself, but I understand them and encourage them to stand up for their beliefs.

The way I see it, the skinny Minnie and Daisy pics show just how absurd the ideals promoted by the fashion industry really are.

Personally, I don't see how any people, male or female, can allow themselves to be influenced by high fashion, especially when so many say so many nasty or insulting things about it. And, it is 100% deserving of those nasty and insuylting things, with the way it treats women and girls.

First, the idea of a skinny Minnie and Daisy is inane. Second is the idea that it is something to protest about.

Perhaps this makes me "dumb", then, but I can entirely relate to the protesters. I've seen a beautiful, intelligent, witty young lady going through years of eating disorder, a spell in an institution, and lasting health damage because she was taught that this is what "beautiful" looks like.

Sending that message via children's characters is particularly reprehensible. It's on a par with having Mickey take up smoking to look cool.

The message is very deeply ingrained in society. People just attack anything tangible.

Case in point.

It is difficult to attack female underwear models models most of the time. But recently, two campaigns came out at the same time that made it easy to attack victoria's secret.

It's hard to get a good footing when attacking cartoons for being unrealistic about the female body. But disney overstepped with skinny minnie and daisy, so people are attacking it *because they can*

We just attack the easy low-hanging issues out of fury for the large vague ones.

Rats. Guess I'm going to have to tell the advertising department that someone is on to their coming Mickey Camel campaign.

Interesting. At this point in her life, my daughter isn't all that interested in any of the Mickey characters except for Mickey himself.

Randomly: the skinny Minnie and Daisy look like they've been done in the style of Jessica Rabbit...
