Hurricane Check In Thread

I'm sorry! I couldn't help myself. KS and Nawtee just blow my fucking mind. I'm done now. In this thread anyways.

Jesus....I would hope so.

Of course the irony that you bitch about me bitching about a sticky instead of some homeless mutant who lives in a dumpster, yet you put fifty times more energy into me, than I did This Topic.....went right over your small head.

Bugger - mate, I'm so sorry. I had Glam in my mind for some reason and should have gone back to double check. I do apologise - :).

No problem.

They are interchangeable.

You are a waste of air, seriously. Go to hell.

An apology to the thread, as this will be the last harsh comment I make.

Edited for clarification.

Don't worry about it Rainy. He's a mentally disturbed, self pitying tool who probably hasn't left his house in 5 years, 'cept to go visit his shrink. So all his talk about not giving a dime to people, and moving away from areas of natural disasters, is just laughable when you consider he doesn't have a dime to give, or to move anywhere away from mommy with.

This is not fair............New Orleans gets the water, New York gets the drought.

The season isn't over yet..... be careful what you wish for.

Power is back!!!! We escaped TOTALLY unscathed. Had some sex on the balcony last night, had a rita (the irony, eh?)...and all is well. I was worried that our new house would flood, but everything is totally intact.

We dodged a bullet here. I'm thankful.

Was there a lot of damage from the storm?

Not around us...we saw some branches blown down and lots of leaves and debris...but nothing major here. Nothing like what they were predicting, anyway.

Good to see ya boobsy!

Thank GOD the power's back on. It was just starting to get a little bit old. Getting dark and too hot to move around. All the air conditioners kicked on at once and the WHOLE neighborhood cheered at once. Then...everyone held their breaths for a minute to see if it would hold. yep. Car horns honking and everything. Oh I DO love my air conditioning!

I assume the window, so recently replaced, held :)

Very good news :)

Oh yes. My new $92 window is just fine. Lots of branches down, stuff in the yard -- some roof tiles from somewhere else (not mine) and I lost part of my gutter, but that's about it. My dry ice system kept everything cold all day. I was starting to worry about whether it would hold until morning -- the dry ice evaporated faster than I expected -- when the power came back. Fifteen miles away my dad never lost power but they have buried utilities there -- we'll never hear the end of that now. My brother (10 miles away) got his back about the same time as DT. I was too chicken to light the pilot in the oven, so I only used the stove. I'm glad my little camping in the house adventure is over. Anyone need some bottled water? School is closed until Wednesday. My work's emergency recording says we'll be open for business on Monday, though many of the other buildings downtown will still be closed. They brought back our servers online today.

She is probably busy practicing her text messaging, right? :D

I still refuse to learn...

You should learn sistah. Seriously. I cannot thank Morgie and islandman enough. That was the last thing I did before the power went out last night and today, the land phones didn't work, the cell phones didn't work most of the time..."emergency numbers only" or "no service available." Text messaging was the ONLY way to communicate and I sent and received about 40 messages to keep in touch with all my scattered family members and friends who checked in.

And my little last minute $2 toy radios worked like a charm. I think I'll pack them up in a disaster box for next time. All the major television stations simulcasted on the radio so we could hear what was happening out in the world.

I just want to say that I really really really really appreciate electricity. Really. :nana:

Yeah and phones, mine was out for about 30 hours for ophelia and even worse than that the kids were off school for 3 days. That was really painful.
Glad you made it though ok

Do any of you think Bush is getting in the way of making things batter in New Orleans. I real hate that guy

Thanks. The land phones didn't work at all. My mother finally got through on my cell and asked me why I wasn't answering my phone or at least having the answering machine pick up?
