How would you react to this PM?

Background: Yes, I asked permission to post this PM but in 4 days never received a response even though I never wanted to post the name of who sent it, so here it is anyway.

It arrived several days ago, just before I turned my PM capability off I received 5 PMs which I am now trying to respond to. This one confounds me. It comes from someone I have never spoken with on or off the board and know nothing about.

I'm inclined to react two ways, opposite ends of the spectrum. Odd little message.

I hesitate to post a PM but it should reveal nothing about the author.

I don't know if you pay me any attention, but I really am the way I appear here in real life(although much less flirtatious). I'm genuinely polite & thoughtful.

I don't respond to you because while I think you're keenly intelligent, I suspect you're disingenuous. I think you're mostly conducting social experiments for your own amusements( your avs for example. I find them funny), or in the case of the Herpes -puss flame war aftermath...with good intentions but bad results.

I doubt that that's always the way you interact here, it seems we all follow our moods. I don't give your posts & threads serious thought because I can't trust you to be serious. Not that I have you on ignore. I think you were being genuine on Dillenger's "read this" thread, and probably on Lavvy's gender discrimination thread. That's what prompted this.

I've noticed that several of the members here have stated that they've turned off their pm's. Why? Isn't that like having a telephone in your home and disconnecting it? This Board is dedicated to interaction, how can you interact if you make it impossible to contact you?

With only a few exceptions, anything further back than about two weeks is really too old to be considered in a new conversation. It's like fighting with your SO about breaking the new glass water pitcher your mom gave you out of the blue and bringing up the fact that he stayed out all night and came home stumbling drunk two years ago as evidence to support the fact that he's a asshole.

Sometimes you just gotta get past it.
