That's not the reason, of course. I can sell GM and lesbian and inspirational and espionage thriller. If I didn't separate authorship on those, I'd lose a lot of my readership in each category. So, the reason to separate is based on the response to the writing; it's not because of what I'm capable of writing or enjoying writing or can find a fan base for.

I really think your "do everyone a favor and stop writing" is out of line and a little inane.

Thousands of successful writers have written successfully outside of their public persona. Rowling just tried it and was outed--but she would have done just fine in that pen name if she hadn't and it's really out of line for you or anyone else to say she'd do everyone a favor by just stop writing.

I think there is a difference between an alt and multiple pen names.

Alt has a negative connotation to it. Different pen names can have a purpose.

I made a joke alt for an old thread, but that's it and as for pen names I don't feel the need to have more than one here, but I have three on sale sites.

To be perfectly honest, everyone I know personally, my family, my boss, my peers, my neighbors - all know my pseudonym and this ID. Because my son and his friends are all turning 18, and there is a chance they could be on this site, I thought it would be a good idea to have another ID that I could freely express myself with. The dilemma only just cropped up two months ago when I wanted to post on one of the forums about a past experience involving my ex-husband that I'm not ready to share with my son.

That's when I started looking into setting up another ID. There's really nothing sinister about it and it has nothing to do with my author 'image', if I even have one.

I do have secrets that I do not wish for my son to know. For that matter, I have all sorts of sexual secrets that I might want to share anonymously on here with people who will understand, but not with my family members. So for that I need another ID, because I haven't been real close-lipped about this one.

Yes, that's the high road. Folks posting to a Web site like Literotica aren't Marvin Milquetoasts, though. You can be Pollyanish about this, as you wish, but James earned every one of his one bombs by his behavior for years and years before he ever posted a story here.

And, no, I'm not justifying my one-bombing of his stories myself--because I haven't done that. I'm just saying get real. This is the type of Web site where frustration from prolonged mistreatment by a poster will end up with retaliation as possible against that poster. And anyone who doesn't understand that is going to get blindsided (and sold a Brooklyn Bridge or two). It's not sneakiness for anyone who "gets it." He should continue doing that and stop complaining about what's happening to his stories under the JBJ name, because what's happening to those is natural and understandable (even if not nicer than he's been to anyone) and he's just spitting in the wind to complain about it. Those who are one-bombing him are reveling in his whining about it on the forum.
