How does Literotica support itself?

I don’t recall ever seeing an ad. Or anything about donations. Yet it’s free to read and write stories here.

Does Literotica make money? It’s been around for over 20 years, and I’m guessing the cost of the servers and everything isn’t zero. How has it stayed online for so long, without an obvious income? Do the owners just fund it?

laurel sells paw pics on the side. shhhhhh. she’s a kitty hustler.

Do you use an ad blocker? 'Cause they're there.
Do you mean the Lit cam ads? I see those. But no ads for sites outside of Literotica.

I don’t have ad blockers on my phone, and I’m usually here on my phone.

According to theporndude.com, “Literotica has managed to stay free for two decades, but they’ve got to support themselves somehow. Bandwidth for 50+ million views a month ain’t cheap. Buy some dildos, video on demand, or the Literotica print anthology to support the site.”

So I guess they make their money from the shop

Laurel one of the owners sells our souls to the Erotic Gods unless we make her the most amazing chocolate and sell it on her behalf to fund Literotica.

Once I had the man flu and was 24 hours late on making the chocolate goodness and the email I got was catty and scary at the same time. 🙀

How will it support itself later? Internet expenses will rise for all sites. Laurel could decide to eliminate the PB, or put the first paywall on the PB. Or anyone who posts a dick pic must pay by the inch.

What is PB?

The Friendship supports her. They’re similar to the Illuminati but older, more powerful, and have more names and funds. The leader is a Faerie Alien Hybrid genie with a clairvoyant ability to predict lottery numbers and stock market trends. For more on what this organization does, check my stories.

They can't it's public information. All you have to do is a little digging to see where the bodies are buried.
Nobody even knows where the servers are. So it's public information... you gotta know how it's funded to figure it out. Things can be hidden easier than you think... bits and pieces, like their real names for starters.

Sex sells. There are plenty of sexy sites that try too hard to get every last dollar, so they push away potential customers. Lit does enough to pay the bills and keeps the traffic coming.

Enshittification. For this reason, I hope Literotica stays a private company, and never sells itself to investors. But the entire operation appears to rest on the shoulders of two people, which seems like a precarious position for any organization. Is it true that Laurel is the only person that reviews and publishes new stories? I’m impressed they haven’t gotten burned out after two decades

Bi-monthly bank stick-ups with the loot quickly converted into bitcoin. This is used to acquire illegal software that can hack into all the email accounts everyone is required to establish to join Lit and obtain your banking information, especially account numbers. Little by little everyone on the site has been contributing to the coffers of Lit without their knowing it, with Laurel and Manu getting 50%. The reason no one knows where the site originates is because the servers are hidden in the basement of the multi-billion dollar mansion-holdout Laurel and Manu occupy that takes up an entire Caribbean island. The parties they host there, which have been going on non-stop for the last 7 years, are incredible and feature sexual activities that even the wildest Lit writers haven’t even imagined yet. Some group or person should definitely be looking into this, and I humbly volunteer. I’ll start with the parties.

There's an ad at the top of just about every story you click. The get small kick backs(referrals?) any time someone clicks one of the cams from here, the drop ship adult toy store.... so they have some income, but I don't think they're raking it in as the out dated parts of the site demonstrate.

Frustrating in the sense that this site is a damn gold mine if they wanted to put more effort-and initially more money-into it.
