I mentioned about a woman who just got me fired from my job yesterday on the GB.

One of the many weird things about her was she was homophobic...And she herself is bisexual.

Does anyone else find this a little strange?

She was an ex-stripper who often dabbles with other women but seemed abhorrent to any homosexuality or even bisexuality in men.

Is this rare, how often if at all have any of you run into this kind of hypocrisy?

I am not even gay but just brutally honest and when I mentioned that I would seriously consider boning a beautiful post-op tranny even that got all her panties in a twist.

And when she was a stripper she would often get lap dances out of men by accusing them of being gay just so that they would get one to prove her wrong. It seems somehow morally unethical to engage in that kind of behavior based on her own sexual orientation IMHO.

What do you think?

yes, bisexual people can be homophobic just like people of all races can be racists. bigotry knows no boundaries.

I totally agree. I myself am bi sexual but have no problem with gay men. If anything most of my guy friends are gay and i love them to death. Not to mention the fact that most of the stories i read on this site are m/m sex stories. So not all of us are bigots, just the really small minded ones .;)

I don't encounter that attitude all that often among self-avowed bisexuals, but it takes all kinds and I met one or two. Anyone can be a paranoid closety freak or some sort. Me, I prefer to align myself towards the gay/les social end of things though I'm sexually flexible.

Don't know if she (or others) would be considered homo-phobic or not....given such behavior. Maybe just half a bubble out of plumb. Lots of people out here who aren't right....playing without a full deck. Never even win at solitaire that way.

Some of the most homophobic people are gays, lesbians and bisexuals. Some of the most sexist people are women. Etc.

As KAH stated, bigotry knows no boundaries.

I think the last few years have seen a great deal of progress for the idea of queer solidarity. For a period, I'd say from the mid 80's through the early 90s, there was a lot of identity politics that led to bitterness and ill feeling between some gays and bis, as well as separatism between gay men and lesbians. We seem to be past that, for the most part.

There does remain, however a large number of people who are insecure about their sexuality, and will express that insecurity through hostility towards others, and neither bisexuals nor gays are immune from that.

Oddly enough, the worst reaction of that sort I have encountered is from Homosexuals against Bisexuals. Admittedly the homosexual in question is the Bitch Queen Of The Fairies™, but he said (and I quote) that bisexuals were "Too scared to come out as gay," and that anyone who claimed to be equally attracted to people of both genders was "Lying for the sake of trying to fit in."

Admittedly he sneers at straight people too, but not so much.

I've had the same sentiments expressed to me as well, in addition to the standard, "Bi is just a transitional phase...in time you'll figure out that you're really a lesbian."

i think that's sorta true for some people, but you have to understand where it's coming from. usually the people i've heard that shit from are ex-closet cases. i had a boss who was your stereotypical dyke who had been married before she came out as a lesbian and she had nothing but disdain for bisexual people. i just have to wonder if she was letting her own experience color her logic a bit too much.

of course, not all bisexuals are attracted to both sexes equally anyway. i know i'm not. hell, some days the thought of straight sex does nothing but bore me. some days i feel the exact opposite. i move in phases, but as a whole i'm just a bloody ball of confusion. it's fun.

there's a point there somewhere. if you find it i'll give you a pony.

I get it...identifying as bi is transitional for some. However, why they don't limit their judgements to their own experience and assume it's a phase for everyone is just rediculous. I guess I expect people who have experienced and are angered by prejudice to be a little more understanding and less judgemental. Interesting...
