Sometimes the people who work thankless retail jobs don’t realise the impact they can have on people. I thought it was really sweet today when I was in a shop with two people, and I was trying to sneak someone a gift and the cashier helped me. I whispered to her that I was trying to hide something, and she kept one hidden for me, then took my bag and packed it for me (that’s not something cashiers do for customers here) just so she could watch to see the safe moment to slip the hidden item into the bottom of the bag! I found it really sweet, and it made the day of my guest when I eventually pulled out the gift she had no idea I had purchased
