Life is not a journey, dammit!
It is just life - one day after another, everyone does it.
A journey is going from one place to another.... say, from here to Melbourne, or from NewYork to Seattle. THAT's a journey.
I am so sick of hearing people rave on about how they're so 'incredibly grateful to have been given the opportunity to undertake this journey '
Don't people make (or take advantage of) the opportunities and chances they get presented with anymore?
Now it's all a fucking journey.

Word.

In fortune cookie form: Life is what you ignore today because you're too busy waiting for tomorrow.

Life isn't a journey. It's like a roll of toilet paper.

The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes.

I kind of like that.

There is also the observation that as a child your days seem to last forever, but as adults they pass very quickly until, towards the end, they again seem to lengthen.

That last part I just have to take on faith and trust the old people whom imparted it to me...

Right because life should totally just be about living one day at a time, no regard for anything else but that one day. No one to worry about except yourself. Nothing in life is a blessing. Nothing is a gift.

It must be nice to live in your idyllic world. And I wonder if we did a Google search on the paragraph you opened this thread with is someone else's words.

I don't understand. Why are taking advantage of opportunities and seeing life as a journey mutually exclusive?

Because the OP is a racist moron who is incapable of understanding even the simplest of metaphors.

And "from cradle to grave" is what exactly?

In West Side Story it's Womb to Tomb and Sperm to Worm. Both catchy and you can also sing "When you're a Jet you're a Jet all the way. From your first cigarette to your last dying day."

You know, cuz everyone does that. Right? Right?

You get weirder every day:confused:

My life has been an incredible journey. I've stumbled and picked myself up and forced myself to travel on, found new paths that have taken me to places I would like to forget and places that have presented lovely new experiences, rested for periods of time and tried to take it all in, and I've gone on blindly at times. How the fuck is life NOT a journey?

Some of you got me wrong. I love my life.
But I don't see it as a journey. It just is.
Some good, some bad, depending on my choices.

I was listening to the radio yesterday, and no less than 5 people in the space of about 10 minutes were gushing about how wonderful the journey was.... They were politicians.
It struck me that this phrase is used by absolutely everyone these days, and really it's an improper way to describe the path of one's life.

It got annoying by the time the 5th person said it.
All I could think was 'life isn't a journey.... it's just life, filled with choices and opportunities'.

It's been over-used. It probably sounded great the first few times it was used, but now even Joe down the road raves about the 'journey', and he's never done a damn thing in his life apart from farming, and has never been further from home than Devonport (52 km away!)

WQ, once again proving that racism and ignorance go hand in hand.

Interesting.
