Endless Ends

How did I miss all the talk of scariness and Freddy and Ash?!!!

I’ve read that Scream 5 may go the New Nightmare route and be about someone killing the actors from the Scream movies. Which I think could be really awesome if they do it. Far more interesting than just doing another sequel, plus they could bring back all the interesting actors from the previous films. Maybe Neve Campbell gets killed and Drew Barrymore is the hero? Lots of possibilities.

And all Evil Dead is good. I really loved Ash vs. the Evil Dead. I love how they tied it into his past experiences and continued the story. Also naked Lucy Lawless was very exciting!

Okay.

That's it!

I'm still not sure about embracing the whole series, but I'm talked into the New Nightmare.

I will report back.

, Jamie Kennnedy is hilarious and brilliant. And actually kind of underrated. They gotta bring the dude back. They gotta!

He's the one who kept spouting off all the *rules* correct? And yes, he was pretty fab.

In which order? These things matter!!!

:p

I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on Part 2: Freddy’s Revenge. Assuming you know nothing about it going in and do no research, because there is a whole thing about that movie I wonder if you would pick up on.

Was he the one saying that Jamie Lee Curtis “didn’t show her tits until she went legit”?

Oh, my.

Welp. If I like the first film well enough to continue watching.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

:D

('Cause a girl has to do something while she's once again trapped at home due to the rising COVID.)

You bypassed my post on the cock thread *haz sad

Nah, you were probably right to; it was stupid

A discussion I was having about genuine amends and the anatomy of lying segued - oddly, no doubt - to Pride and Prejudice.

(That's what I do when I'm not here. Think about weird things. :p)

My partner in conversation takes the stance that P&P has the most non-qualified amends (two, in fact) ever put to paper.

(Not really expecting anyone to have an opinion. Just putting it out there into the ether. :p)

Also wanted the chance to say the 2005 version, with Kiera Knightley and Mathew McFadden, is quite possibly the only movie I’ve ever seen where the changes (minimal) to the script actually improved the original story.

Not easy to do with Jane Austen.

And.

My Friday night, you ask? I have a date with Freddy.

Yes, that one.

This better be good, fellows!

:p

*ahem*

That was quintessential 80s. The hair, the one-dimensional clueless parents, the crazy young Johnny Depp!

(Seriously, I hardly recognized him.)

It was oddly less scary than expected. In fact, I didn’t find it scary at all. I suspect it’s a matter of no longer being the target audience and thrill and kill horror having evolved significantly over the last thirty years.

Some interesting special effects that I expect were pretty cutting edge back in the day. The squodgy carpet, like sticky candy. The rolling ceiling of blood. The bedroom scene where the soon-to-be body is flung all about the room. There was a certain amount of gore, but it somehow wasn't scary gore? I realize that statement makes no sense. :p

I can’t say the film grabbed me. Like so many things you may have needed to experience it during a certain life time frame for it to have the most effective impact.

Still, worth the watch!

A couple of questions:

-Was it supposed to be harder to tell the differences between the awake and dream sequences as the film progressed?

-Ummm. So, would someone care to explain the ending? 😂

I saw all of those movies out of order and I don’t think I watched the first one until near the very end. But I grew up knowing about Freddy and being kind of afraid of him. I was more afraid of the idea of him than the actual movies.
Michael Myers, on the other hand, scared me all the way into college.

The ending makes no sense. There was a disagreement on how the movie should end and the final result is just kind of stupid. I did love the part when Freddy rises from the bed and she says she isn’t afraid of him anymore. That part was awesome.

Biggest issue with the Elm Street movies . . . you guessed it, not enough nudity. :D

I was surprised at the level of phycological terror. All this time I thought the Nightmare movies were slasher flicks. Possibly due to pics and posters featuring razor gloves. *gulps*

Slasher horror just isn't my genre. No siren song. I've not seen any of the Friday 13th movies, and only one of the Michael Myers. Halloween H20, I believe. The synopsis caught my attention.

The only other slasher movie that comes to mind is Terror Train, 1980. Also with Jaimie Lee Curtis. Also interesting synopsis.

Train mysteries.

* * *

Oops! Nearly forgot. Nightmare Part 2 is on my agenda for next weekend. I am most curious to see what it is that I may, or may not, pick up.

*likes a mystery*

Even when not on a train.

Today was full of new experiences:

-I was invited to a Pumpkin Run.
-I was invited to a barbecue and wine pairing.
-Two vultures eyed me on my run, which was…a little unnerving.

That's it.

Take it as a compliment that they see you as good carrion

What the heck is a pumpkin run?

Now see?! That was my reaction. I mean, the mind boggles….

Turns out that is just a seasonal tag for a 5 or 10k.

Should I have known that? Probably. I think living under the pandemic has literalized my already very literal self.

I was thinking running.
While holding a pumpkin.

Do not ask me why. 😂

I could use a little extra de-stressing. That means I'm going to take a crazy leap.

Like binge a couple of tv series. :p

(Yeah, yeah, it doesn't sound all that crazy, but I don't watch much in the way of television.)

Any suggestions?

So far, these have been endorsed:

-The Expanse
-The Queen's Gambit
-Chapelwaite

And one other whose name currently escapes me. Because my short-term memory at the moment is like a sieve.
