Endless Ends

Enny, I trust you took the proper precautions today to survive another Friday the 13th! And if not, now you know why things happened as they did. :(

And if you have clear skies, the Perseid Meteor showers continue tonight. Put down the remote, or the book, and go outside and enjoy the wonder of it all. :)

Sadly, once again, I missed the

FREAKING FULL MOON

What is wrong with me these days. :/

So. Googling Amish Vampires in Space took me down a couple of rabbit holes.

Naturally.

-Turns out this isn't badly reviewed. Nor is it camp.
-It is somewhat religious.
-Turns out is was optioned for a movie.
-Turns out there are 2 (count 'em, two!) followup novels.

-Still mulling how that first statement can possible be true.
-…….
-This was a couple years back, so has probably come to naught.
-I present: Amish Zombies from Space & Amish Werewolves of Space. (I like how the author mixes up the prepositions. :p)

I wasn't really considering reading, as camp isn't my thing, but now? Once I wade a bit through my current reading list it's on.

ON, I SAY

At least the Werewolf offering.

*wonders if these are standalones*

:p

I’m totally into this too. That pic is hot and I’ve always had a thing for Amish chicks.

Especially if they’re werewolves and vampires!

Did this bring to mind X-Files episode with the Amish like community?

Popped into my head on reading the blurb. 😂

Also. I watched the infamous Zardoz again last weekend. For mah sins.

It was, if possible, even more terrible the second time around.

SO TERRIBLE

😂

I think I came out more confused. I certainly have more questions. Like, for one, how was this not a career ending debacle?

Lordy.

😂

Oh! Really? I am shocked.

*looks shocked*

:p

The Creature Feature episodes were tons of fun! This one I'm thinking of was called Gender Bender.

(If you do ever watch the series, do yourself a favor and skip the space alien conspiracy theory episodes.)

I’m oddly selective when it comes to sci-if. I’m mostly a ‘50s atomic creature feature kind of guy, with a few Alien, Dark City, Close Encounters-stuff added in there.

I still remember watching the original Invaders from Mars when I was a kid. Scared the crap out of me. They did a remake in the '70's with Karen Black in it.

When Rumspringa goes horribly wrong

I grew up on Monstervision and USA Up All Night. So I know my cult movies.

I'll watch basically anything really. But the ones I rewatch are the goofy cult stuff. I can watch The Godfather and love it but I don't watch it multiple times like I do Repo Man or Evil Dead 2.
I am a big Bruce Campbell fan so watched Both Evil Dead movies and Army of Darkness. There is another one where he is himself and people think he knows how to kill monsters.

Yup! My Name is Bruce. That's a fun one indeed.

I actually just watched Maniac Cop recently. Fun/bad to the max. Lol
Yep saw that too. Not recently though. I did get into the whole Nightmare on Elm Street series of movies. Hard to believe the actor that played Freddie Krueger played the nice alien in V.

Huh. The opening (as told by Wiki) sounds awfully familiar…

Not heavily rerun when I was watching, perhaps. Otherwise I would remember it more clearly.

When Rumspringa goes horribly wrong

Possibly not Vampires in Space, but the X-File's Gender Bender episode is definitely a contender! 😂

Evil Dead!!!

Yes.

I've seen all the way through Army of Darkness. (Is seems there have been 2 more. Who knew?)

And My Name is Bruce.

And most of the first season of Ash vs Evil Dead. . Not sure why I got side-tracked, but it was very Campbell-esque camp.

* * *

I feel bad admitting this amongst so many horror aficionados, but I have never seen the Nightmare on Elms Street movies. 😳

Which one is that?

And can they be watched standalone?

I seem to remember thinking they were too scary, hence my lack of viewing. Too scary kinda freaks me out. 😳

That’s the last one, where the actors and Wes Craven play themselves. Kind of a movie within a movie. More mind games than violence

I had to google. What a crazy cool concept! :cattail:

*like button*

Hmm. Looks like it does several homages to the previous films, so watching it first might not be the best choice….

Enny, we can always count on you to pursue a thread to its end, wherever it leads. :D

As I sat on my grandparents porch in Pa watching the Amish buggies pull up to the hitching posts in front of the hardware store, I NEVER, EVER imagined they would reach the status of vampires, zombies and werewolves in outer space!

What. A. Week.

*thunk*

I seem to be having a lot of those lately. Reaping the frailties of a past life? The universe's comment on my lack of moral character? For mah general sins? Dunno.

*heads to vegetate in front of the television*

Thank goodness for Sundays. :p
