I truly have mixed thoughts about the contest and the stories.
Normally I have seen some that just don't like a writer's work go and tank their new stories but this is truly the first time that I have seen so many horrible votes not only for myself but for others.
I think that I emotionally put too much into both of my stories where it just bothers me when I know that someone went and took the time to vote a 1 on it.
However, there are many that have the necessary 25 votes and even some that have the 50 that are needed for the monthly contest.... I think that is wonderful, I hope that even if many of us don't win the earth day contest that there will be many of the stories from this contest that will be in the March and April Author Award tallies.

Evening all.
Yeah I wasn't to worried about vote tally's. Og stated that you didn't need a minimum to win last place.
I have noticed a correllation though between the number of votes and the day a story posts. The first few days showed alot of voting, That seems to have tailed off as the end draws near.

Once a story had been accepted, it stays on the "New" list for seven days. That's when the majority of votes and views take place. They tend to be few and far between once the story has rolled off the "New" list. However, contest stories get a second chance to attract good numbers near the end when Laurel sets up a separate "Contest" list.

Somebody really doesn't want me to be the winner of this contest neither from the top nor the bottom. Someone has got all their mates to vote. 68 votes on 27K views. 3.44 average. Well, I did it!
Moments ago, I submitted 'Hide in the sun', my contest entry.
I wasn't going to enter, but the story idea came to me, so I wrote it to cheer myself up.
Woke up this morning feeling like death-warmed-up, half-way through breakfast - but you don't want to know that! I'm aching all over and feeling bloody miserable so, please, say nice things about my little tale when it posts, even if you think that it's the mediocre rubbish that it is.
