Dreams Underfoot: UnquietDreams' Dark Whimsy

“Seeing how sorrow eats you, defeats you.
I'd rather write about laughing than crying,
For laughter makes men human, and courageous.”

--François Rabelais, Gargantua and Pantagruel

I watched the movie "The Professor and the Madman" recently. A great movie for people who love words and especially the English language.
It'll give you a whole new perspective.
It's also a true story. Based on the book of the same name.

"Come ti vidi
M’innamorai,
E tu sorridi
Perchè lo sai."

Falstaff, Giuseppe Verdi

Translation: "When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew.

To find a Daddy who would whisper that in my ear and truly mean it,would guarantee him a loyal and the most devoted little one he could ever wish for.

There are things that will always remind me of a person -- a scent, the line from a song, a flavor. And things they said that still echo around my mind with perfect fidelity, and words you can't take back. All of it, good and bad, bringing a smile or maybe even threatening a tear. And that is okay, that is life, that is...things I refuse to define. But I am a believer in "deal with it and move on." It is an outstanding strategy and it usually works. However...

However...

However, sometimes you don't "get over it" -- you can't. Rather you pack it up and carry it with you, a part of you forever, and, eventually, you no longer notice the weight.
