Quirky obsessions

I have an obsession with keys. I have all sorts of keys, some of which can no longer be used and some of which I haven't used for more than twenty years. I still keep them all anyway and I still remember what they all do. Some of them are incredibly niche to say the least.

That's fascinating! What is it about keys, do you think? Is it the possibilities they represent - being able to access locked things/areas?

Partially, but I think that it's also about control and security. I like inanimate objects to do what I want them to do and keys give me the power to do that :D ! I have quite a few keys that are for more complex things than doors, for example.

I have heard there are quite a few people who collect old skeleton keys. There is actually a market for them.

Looking for records. Not necessarily buying them.
Not sure this counts, really.
Records aren't cheap and I can happily spend an hour in a record shop, rifling through shelves and crates, buy nothing and come away happy.

I go through obsessions... usually end up scouring ebay for things - old film cameras are standard - buy various things and before they have arrived, the obsession is over and the depression sets in.

i will often look at a specific thing online for days/weeks, then just drop it. the obsessions seems to last until i buy lots of them
I definitely can relate to that! I must have spent hundreds if not thousands on hobbies that I only pursued for a brief time.

I constantly have music playing in my head. Sometimes I’ll get stuck on one piece that will play over and over until I learn all of the words and how to play it on guitar, then it can fall aside so a different tune can have the limelight.

This has often happened with some long songs, so yeah: American Pie, Tangled up in blue, Everybody Knows…

We're twinsies. I once listened to Leanne Womack's I hope You Dance, for 10 hours straight.
