Any other folks play "mass" with thesse? (God bless Catholic education!)

Boy did I ever!!! Usually right after 9 am mass!! Back home, playing "church" with my sister...and after breakfast it was back to church for the "kiddie movie" they usually ran.

I agree...God Bless Catholic Education...(my knuckles STILL hurt!!)

My dad always wore Hush Puppies...he said they were the most comfortable shoes to wear. Also, (this will show my age for sure) my sophomore year in High School--they changed the dress code for women and finally allowed them to wear jeans to school. That was really controversial at the time, since they were only allowed to wear dresses or tailored pantsuits.

I think we all wore Earth Shoes at one time or another. They are making them again, but they aren't as good as the originals. I LOVED all my mood rings and necklaces and t-shirts with the mood thing on them.

AA - I am 5 1/2 yrs younger than you and we weren't allow to wear jeans. In high school they FINALLY let us wear dress pants and a nice shirt. But before that it was always dresses or pants suits, but the pant suits top had to be long enough to be worn as dresses! Also in high school if they suspected a girl of not wearing a bra they would make her go to the nurses office and prove it!!!!! I never had to worry about that. Even if I wanted to, I would not have gotten out the door dressed like that. Dallas schools were already wearing jeans, halters, shorts, etc...but Mesquite has always been ultra conservative. Even now they are not more so than most schools. The boys have to shave, if they have facial hair, the hair length is still very strict, cannot cover the ear lobe. No mohawks or weird hairdo's. Girls cannot wear spaghetti strapped sundresses. They can wear shorts now, if they are not too short!

One time I got in trouble because someone had given me this real ugly brown skirt and it was too long, past my knees and the styles were mini dresses at that time. My mom found out I had rolled the waist to make it a little shorter, just above the knee. And boy did she let me have!!! She said that if she ever caught me doing that again she would make sure that all my dresses, skirts would hit somewhere between my knees and ankles! :p yuck!!!!

Some of the clothes I remember were the bright orange down jacket that made me look like the Goodyear blimp, Dingo's boots, girls wearing the gaucho-style pants, guys wearing the green Army jackets with the ripped jeans, Hotpants, and Velour shirts.

Anybody have a Crystal Radio?

You have to remember these!? I had one when I was a kid. I remember hooking it up and every night I would fall asleep listing to it. I was amazed as to how well it operated with out a power supply. I think I left it on continuously for years! This one offered hear was made in the 1950s. It comes complete with the antenna clip, earphone, original instructions sheet (not pictured) little clear plastic bag and of course the rocket radio. This item is in MINT condition, the box is also in mint condition. This has never been removed from it's original box until I took it out to test it. It does operate very well, you can clearly hear many local radio stations with great volume! They don't make them like this any more. No tubes, no batteries, no electricity needed to operate this very cool toy radio! Crystal radios use a simple copper wire coil and a minute crystal (galena) to pick up radio waves! It is powered by the radio waves them selves. You can tune into your favorite radio station, it will never cost you a single penny to operate and will play indefinitely. This is a great way to save energy! Rolling black-outs or terrorists attacks won't stop this radio!

I so remember candy lipstick and those candy necklaces.

When I was a little girl, we were driving to the beach to visit family and I wanted some candy. I remembered seeing some candy lipstick in my Mom's purse. So, when she wasn't looking I reached inside and was so excited to see that it was now in a different kind of case.

Well, it wasn't candy lipstick at all...but that didn't stop me from eating it. HA! I knew it tasted totally wrong but I couldn't stop myself. It was real lipstick and I was real sick after that.

The other day I did see a little girl wearing a candy necklace and it did bring back some wonderful memories.

Great thread...I have enjoyed reading every post.
