Hi
I just spent 5 days waiting for a story to be approved . I accept that delay as part of the nature of the site, but resent getting less than 24 hours on the new submission page which is the only place to garner votes. I can then watch some stories sit there for days on end.

Am I alone in thinking this?

My understanding from what I've read lately, is that there is currently only one volunteer editor available for story submissions. There's probably an overwhelming amount of stories available for submission at various times.

If you submitted your story via e-mail (good idea btw), then it takes longer. I don't know if there is a preset determined amount of time for story approvals.

wait. just reread. oh well. write some more. that's the way the story goes.

Why do you think submitting via email is a good thing? It makes it take longer, I'm sure it's extra work on the people on the site. Unless you are submitting art (and thus don't have a choice) I don't see why.

As for the 24 hours on the front page everybody spends the same amount of time on the front page. If you've seen a story stay up on the front page for days. . .honestly you're mistaken. Maybe you saw a series and they were fired out in rapid succession, maybe you're just not seeing things. Maybe you somehow stumbled over an incredibly slow streak but I haven't seen one of those in years but I'm sure they still happen.

don't be a meanie!

i will sic manu on you.

in the name of the maus, i will. i swear it.

Look, she is not approving stories quick enough for some of the posters around these parts. She had the chance. She could have clicked the magic clicks and made the stories come to life.

Did she?

No.

Fuck no.

Yes.

Uh, there is no submission by email only via the submissions page.

And oh boohoo, it took five days, poor you. Don't like it, go somewhere else...wait, Lit is the biggest and the best, there really is no other place.

It takes five days, a week, for a story to post...deal with it!

I know, I know you get anxious, you want to see your masterpiece out there for the world to see and get all those juicy comments and that perfect score of 5 (will never happen), but you as the writer are at the mercy of the owner of the site. Poor woman is the only one vetting stories, give her a break.

Or go somewhere else or start your own site. (hahahahaha)

You're wrong. There is submission by email. They don't like it when people use it but it is there.

I find it hard to believe Laurel is the only one vetting stories too.

Volunteer Editors have nothing to do with story approval.

Volunteer Editors are basically readers or other authors who are willing to read your story and help make corrections. They do this on their own time, and before the story is approved.

Story approval is done by me. This is why we're currently behind. We're experiencing an big increase in site visitors and submissions on the story side.

If there were more people doing story approvals, we wouldn't be behind. At least, I hope not. ;)

a way to gain more exposure - without getting arrested - is to enter the themed competitions. there's also the Survivor Contest to consider.

Hi there! Why do you believe you are getting less than 24 hours on the New page? I checked, and your newest story has over 11,000 views and over 300 votes already. Your previous story, approved on August 6th, has a little over 14,000 views and 380 votes. So in two days, your newest story already has over half as much views and nearly double the votes as a story that has been onsite for over a month.

If I'm reading this incorrectly, or if you can give me more information, please feel free to Private Message me. :rose:

get to work approving stories, slacker. if you didn't spend so much time on the boards the turn-around time on submissions would be halved.
