I was wondering...

With the situation in the world today, and the questions swirling about the way the younger Bush is handling himself, it begs the question:

How would you compare the the elder Bush with the younger, so far as foreign and domestic policy?

Overall, which one made a better president? And why?

And...if you could choose to have either one in office RIGHT NOW, which one would it be? Explain why.

Debate and discuss.

:)

Oh, come on.

Nobody has anything at all to say?

Nobody has convictions one way or the other?

I like Dubya and all, but all things considered, I'd rather have Pops. He was a whiz at international diplomacy and relations.

Of course, I'd rather have Ronnie than both of them combined, but that's just me.

I didn't mention Dutch because I figured there wouldn't be much debate. Everyone would just say, "Reagan, duh".

:) I remember when he won the election. I was young, but my grandpa loved to explain politics. I was a happy little Republican. :)

I'd pick the elder...he was smarter, more experienced, and the head once of the CIA which a lot of people didn't know tho it was on public record because he had enough saavy to keep that on the down low. His son, it seems to me, got into politics because his father was...you shouldn't do that.

If you dont' have desire for the work, you shouldn't take the job, coz you'll never really be good at it.

I don't think Barbara's cut out for politics, but I could be wrong.

I have a couple things against the Elder: his tax hikes (which killed the real-estate market and helped along a nice little recession) and his deference to the Saudis and the UN on Hussein (which has left us in the position we're in today). I believe the wimp appellation was deserved when it came to his Presidency.

I'm warming up to the Younger more every day. By grades, it's coming out that he knows more than he's ever given credit for knowing and his foreign policy isn't as ham-handed as it appears.

Having said all that, can't we just clone Dutch, please??

Whaddya mean...? The Queen mum is in charge of England right?

Dubya was expected to be like Big Bush,

Wants to be Reagan,

and is turning out to be Tricky Dicky...

There's no comparison, really. Senior Bush was a decorated war hero that pretty much earned his position in life, and he didn't go bombing the fuck out of Iraq again right before Election Day which might have guarranteed a victory over Clinton in '92. Most of his actions seemed fairly sane and moderate if I remember well.

Why is his son such a weasely little cocksucker?

I don't get it...

Bush Sr. and Clinton both had zero integrity and zero respect for the US Constitution. Bush Jr. has a ways to go if he wants to be a worse president than his father was.

I have often thought that the younger went into politics simply because his father was...or perhaps, to protect his own interests in his oil fields.

But I agree with JazzManJim...now that he's in there, he does seem to be emerging as his own man. Only problem, for me, is that I sometimes wonder who is running the Oval Office...Bush, or Powell.

I personaly would rather have powell running the show with a dash of rumsfeld and a bit of rice then anyone else there.

Poppa George.

I didn't like his politics, but I respected him as a statesman.

Dubya seems like he is bound and determined to make his place in the history books for going to war. Except we have to have a civilization around to have history books.

Yep, seems like he thinks backing our enemies into a corner willl make them easier to grab. Except have you ever tried to fight someone who was cornered? Let's make them desperate enough to try anything, now why don't we?
