Nude Beach - 40 Years Ago vs. Yesterday

I have been going to nude beaches and resorts for the last 55 years and still get the same thrill as I did when I first started. In fact, I have plans to go about 6 or 7 times this year.

Same for me.

The main attraction of nude beaches is the feeling of freedom and body acceptance that comes from being completely naked in a social setting. It allows me to feel comfortable in my skin without the self-consciousness associated with wearing swimwear, often leading to a sense of liberation and a more relaxed experience with nature; essentially, it's about embracing your body without judgment from others in a dedicated space for nudity.

Once you pluck up the courage to talk to a stranger naked, you feel at home and at ease, with a deep sense of freedom.

Unfortunately, sometimes, when my wife took her clothes off and was lying naked on the beach within 10 minutes, guys surrounded her. I don’t know who enjoyed it most, her or all the guys around her, but it ended up a good beach day.

She told me she felt less naturist and more centrefold. But they kept their distance content to ogle and found it wasn’t an unpleasant sensation. It wouldn’t be for everyone - but with eyes following her every twitch, she found quite a turn-on.

She did encounter one exhibitionist but just told him she wasn't impressed, and he soon went away.

A very happy 2025 to one and all! It's late morning here in southern AUS and trying to get into gear following a fairly big day yesterday.

My friend had a crazy idea to visit the same nude beach (naturist beach for the purists) that we spent New Years Eve at exactly 40 years ago to the day.

To those that have read my previous posts, you'll know that I spend most of the warmer months in a naked state working around my winery. Born with pale skin I am a sunblock marketer's dream, which goes some way to explain my pink zinc fetish.

So, what has changed in 40 years?

For a start, me. As an 18 year old I was quite slim, with big boobs. Now as a 58 year old, I'm quite chubby with even bigger boobs

And that's where I get the sense of deja vu ...... back in the 80's, nude beaches were the domain of the very young and the very old. Now they are just the very old. Almost as if the demographic of nudists has simply increased. There were around 200 yesterday and I barely clocked anyone below the age of 50.

Except for those that thought it was a great idea to bring their grandkids. Seriously? To those that believe that nudity is a natural and non-sexual environment, please pull your head out of the sand. It really lowers the vibe, even though there was no more than a dozen yesterday, it was a dozen too many.

Pubic hair, or lack thereof. In my day, our pubes were something to be proud of. I still have all mine, but I'm in the absolute minority. Lots of smooth penises and vulvas, and to be honest, to me it's not as pleasing to the eye. Just a personal opinion.

Fat, and lots of it. Like most I have let myself go, even though I do a lot of work around the farm I have managed to pile on the kilos. But yesterday I felt almost svelte. I would not like to get between this crowd and a buffet table!

Facial hair - I've never liked it, but it seems to be the rule that every male must look as though they work at a coffee shop.

Tattoos and piercings. Why oh why did I get the armband in 1997. Oh, I know, so I could experience the fun of tattoo removal sessions, only to back out at the fifth attempt and make it look worse. Tattoos on older people are a testament to what they thought was cool at the time. Especially tribal arm jobs for men that have no connection to a tribe other than the football team they follow. Nipple piercings = gross!

Tans, very few of them. I've never achieved a tan but I used to love seeing sexy tanned bodies, with our without the tan lines. I seems the good work the cancer council have done in the past in getting their message across has worked. Even as a straight chick there was nothing sexier than a fully tanned woman covering herself in baby oil. Yep, they used to do that!

Penises .... they seem to have become shorter over the years - maybe it's just my nostalgia kicking in

Boob jobs. They don't age gracefully, 60 year olds + with the tits of a 20 year old look just plain stupid.

Technology, what an issue. In the 80's it was something we never had to worry about, although to be honest there was probably the odd camera snapping here and there. But if you ended up on someone's camera reel, there was little chance it would be published anywhere. To be honest there's probably not a great market for nude pics of people my age, but I can understand why the younger crowd would be intimidated by the thought of what could end up being very public.

Same sex couples. Extremely rare to see 40 years ago. I was there with a female friend (totally platonic) as my husband thinks public nudity .... in fact nudity in general is for the vain or the stupid or both. Just an observation but the LGBT crowd don't hold back in public affection. Guys were dispensing handjobs to each other, and there was some very intense woman on woman kissing going on.

Don't get me wrong, I had a good time. I got quite drunk on my own wine, and now wish I didn't have that last bottle. But, I will always hold those 40 year ago memories more fondly!

What goes up..does go down eventually and unless you are being creepy about it no one really pays 'to much' attention.

Is a lovely sensation being naked outdoors with or without others around.

Sadly for those of us living up here in QLD, the ridiculous law of no nudity in public (not condoning walking naked down the street.. but in designated spaces - why not?) makes for clothes-optional/nude beaches almost non-existent. Essentially, here you just have to find secluded spots and be ready to cover up quickly if needed!

And thats why so many people have stopped going to nudist beaches, they aren't for public sex. Its that attitude and behaviour thats killed most off, made councils and governments close them or refuse to allow new ones.

One in particular close to one of the main coastal towns (not Noosa) is quite disgraceful - just a heap of naked men hiding in the bushes watching those on the beach, many of those are families who didn't even realise what goes on there. I use the stairs leading down to the beach for exercise, other than that I avoid it

Totally agree! I might just know the location you are mentioning - it’s where I live and your description is 100% correct. That particular bay is locally notorious for it. I guess it is the result of not having a clothes-optional location here, resulting in lurkers hiding in the dunes.

I just moved to Southern California from the east coast. There's a famous nudist beach near where I live that I've been hearing about since I was 22. From what I understand, it's remote with no easy access. I was talking to my daughter and her SO over breakfast a couple days ago and the topic of hiking trails came up. They both mentioned a bunch and we compared notes. He mentioned a hiking trail that descends though some hills to the famous nudist beach. I asked, have you ever been there and he said "just as part the trail". With some distaste in her mien, my daughter piped up and said "It's almost all old men." That chilled my interest.

It's a shame your beach hasn't evolved. I live in San Diego and frequent a beach you have probably heard of, Black's Beach. Like you I have been frequenting this beach since I was, ahem, 16 when I first got my drivers license, that would have been 1977. Back then it was extremely well attended with anywhere in the neighborhood of 5000 people would come on a warm summer weekend. There were all types of people that would come to Black's, some from far away as San Diego has always been a tourist mecca. One time it was on the national news for a parade they had one Fourth of July. Sadly, shortly after that the puritans started writing tickets to anyone that was naked, even topless. That went on for a few years and then slowly dissipated and nobody I knew would go. Eventually, over a period of a few years, it morphed into a mainly gay beach and still has that stigma to some. But about 10 years ago couples and college age people slowly started coming back to sunbathe au natural. and it's getting better every year. There are usually somewhere around 1,000 there on any given weekend. But it's a long beach and you don't feel crowded. There are straight, gay, lesbian, and trans people that all seem to get along well together, But like your beach the older crowd does tend to have gained a few pounds and the pubes are typically shaven, including mine.

There is the clandestine sex that occasionally happens but it's usually well hidden in a tent or sunshade. We don't want to give the aforementioned puritans another reason to start policing the beach again. We pretty much police ourselves in a way that doesn't seem invasive and people generally abide by the unwritten rules.

One thing has changed though, alcohol is a no-no on all San Diego beaches so you either need to hide it in some sort of thermal cup or drink water.

You should come up and visit us sometime, after all, your winter is our summer. August is best as the water temp tends to be at its peak, somewhere in the 76-78 degree range (Fahrenheit).

Been to Black's Beach a few times. It varied, but then again I went at different times of the year. Sometimes it was dead, other times full of elderly. And sometimes it was busy and really great to be there!
