Chance Made Us Sistersluts; Choice Made Us Friends!

A Litster Sister Sorority of Silliness: come hang out, be kind, be hilarious (please!), celebrate, support, and share some online female solidarity!

I've met so many awesome and supportive women on Lit. Haven't you?

They've helped me live, love, heal, eat, sleep, and take my meds on time. And then some just made me snort my coffee thru nose onto my laptop keys.

Thanks to all y'all, as they'd say in Texas. You know who you are.

Would love to use this thread to spread some love, kindness, virtual hand-holding, silliness, and e-hugs to all the Litster-sisters out there. We are a beautiful, creative, smart, caring, funny, and resilient bunch! Let's prove it.

It's a jungle out there! Us girls need to stick together. Be sassy, be saucy, be sexy, be sappy, be silly, be supportive... but please be nice in here.

I wonder if the Lit gents would make their own thread as a parody... Perhaps some women here would lurk out there.

:D

<--- Doing much lurking.

(although this thread isn't terribly good for my ego. :(:p)

You're still welcome though, anytime of the day, but please have a pair of pink slippers and wear a tutu while you're inside the house. ;)

Hello ladies (and thank you Miss_Cassidy for the note and invite)

I suppose a few of you might find this a strange choice for my first post, bear with me--I think it will make sense by the end.

That image is by Alberto Vargas. He's about my favorite American artist and yes, he painted pin up girls. The thing is that his pin up 'girls' aren't the vacant eyed dolls that so many of them from that time were. To my mind he painted pin up women. He lived his life with only one and his wife was the model for a lot of his work (watch for the red head if you ever look through one of his galleries.)

He loved women. Someone asked him why that was the only thing he ever painted. This is what he said:
"People always asked, 'Why do you always paint nothing but girls...Girls, girls, girls?' I'd answer, Show me something more beautiful than a beautiful girl, and then I'll go paint it."

We are, all of us--each and every one of us--that beautiful girl. We are also strong, capable, beautiful women.
It doesn't do to forget either of those things.

I AM A WOMAN
By Kimberly Stoll

I am a woman,
Strong and mysterious.
I have my pride,
And I have my beauty.
I am a woman,
Thoughtful and true.
Working hard and pure,
For all that I believe in.
I am a woman,
Sensitive and unique.
Walking tall and swift,
Facing each day head on.
I am a woman,
Unlike any creature alive.
Living life fearlessly,
Willing to die proudly.
I am a woman,
And that makes me, me.
Dreams dreamt endlessly,
My hopes will never rest.
I am a woman,
Until the day I die.
Heart held high,
I will walk on.

One of my favourite poems, I think all women should live their lives believing this

Phenomenal Woman
BY MAYA ANGELOU

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
’Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Pffft.

Can't I just around in the buff?

:D

And nice poem, MiP
