I am amazed and humbled my sisters at the posts I've read thus far....

*grumbles about, looking for the dish soap*

lemme guess? you can't find it, can you? you need me to get up and come help you find something, don't you? and its probably very urgent isn't it? like a dish soap emergency or something?

<puts on her Glasses of Super Finding Things Power>

ok, i'm coming.... just lemme finish this post!

So not fair how you knew I would say all that already.

Have you ever heard Ruthie Fosters version of this poem? She sings a beautiful bluesy version of it. I always wanted to see her when i lived back in Austin (at this venue!!) but never got the chance...

One of my favourite poems, I think all women should live their lives believing this

Phenomenal Woman
BY MAYA ANGELOU

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms,
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.

Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them,
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing,
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need for my care.
’Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.

Hello

So many beautiful words, and the feeling I receive from you wonderful women, has my soul dancing for joy!

I have met a special lady here on Lit and told her how much I love talking with her and seeing what she shares with the world, that I need to say this: I will no longer keep this hidden; Arianthe, I consider thee my sister. I ever get the chance to meet you in real life, be prepared for a big hug. :-D

I also have a very special sister, but don't know if I'm allowed to share about her, but Sis, if you read this... I Love you! and hope in the next few months I get to show you how much.

To all the other lit-sisters *Giant wave hello*
