These are the sad facts -
New Toshiba Satellite Pro (my new work lap-top puter) with NT
Camedia loaded fresh and successfully with a short-cut on desktop - fires up every time
Serial/9-pin to mini cable from my Olympus D-360L
So -
When the puter tries to talk with the camera - it tries and tries - takes a while - first says "this file contains 127 images" which is right, the camera does. Also, in the picture field - the first 3 digi-pics of my youngest son appear - but no other pics (the rest of the 124) load......... hmmmmmm?
It takes some more time and eventually says (it changes on its own) "file contains zero images." This - still my the first 3 images of my son in the picture field.
Then - when I try again to get the computer to talk with the camera - I get an error box with 4 listed items that are the most probably causes as to why the puter won't talk with the camera.
And let me tell you this - this entire system - camera, batteries (yes they're good/new), cable, etc.. WORK FINE AT HOME ON MY HOME PUTER!!!!! The only difference here is the Toshiba.
Now - my first thought was that the serial port was toggle OFF. But, even when in 'explore' I can find nothing, anywhere that will give this type of reference to the serial port. And - not even in the trouble-shooting system Toshiba includes upon the puter - do I find any reference to the serial port.
So - I don't fucking know. Numerous people have tried and failed here - they too can't find an on/off serial port reference. One guy suggested shorting pins 1 and 3 on the serial port and 'pinging' to find out if it's on or off. Jeesh!!!
The big question for me is - WHY? - does it seem to 'begin to see my photos?' Seeing the first 3 ones of my son? And then shut down and not talk with the Camera?
You guys got any clues?
Various people have put close to 10 hours on this so far - to no avail.
Thanks for whatever you may come up with.
