Calling all Asians

My father is from HK, and hakka orginally, and mum was born in malaysia, and speaks hokkien(same as fookien, fookien is the cantonese way of saying it, and hokkien is the way the fujian natives say it).
I can understand a little Hokkien, but my main chinese dialect is cantonese.

I've always thought that Asians have a culture where posting on a place like this would be frowned upon. I have maybe two friends that know i post here, one who is asian and one who is not. I know that I have a more open attitude towards sex than most of my friends, a lot of the time its hardly mentioned, and when it is everyone is like

Its slowly starting to change with the new generation of immigrant children like me, but very slowly!

Wow, AFM, must be quite a story behind how your parents met. Is your mum a nonya/peranakan? I hope you keep up your Chinese language skills.

I don't know if we can generalize about Asians regarding sexual mores. There is such a huge spectrum of us, no? Indians, Pakistanis, Myanmarese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesians, Malays, Bruneis, Nepalis, Cambodians, Filipinos, Japanese, Koreans, Chinese.

I see from your profile that you're in the UK. Were you born there?

If you other half-Asians are curious about other 1/2 Asians and more, I'd welcome you to Hawaii. Talk about Asian diversity. We've got all flavors and sizes (yes, including dick sizes) here from zero to 4th generations, SE Asians, Pacific Islanders, all kinds of 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 mixtures of Asians. Short, tall, skinny, fat, buff, athletic, dark/light skin, big eyes, single/double eyelids, curly/straight hair, black/brown hair, brown/green/blue eyes, etc. And it's great!!! Best of all, no one is a real majority, including caucasians.

English is the main language of course, but you can shoot the breeze in another language if you like.

I met a guy from Nepal recently. Considerin there's only 200 Nepalese in the UK I feel pretty priveleged

I guess it isn't possible to genralise when you put it that way....I'm just talking from my experince with Chinese culture. Although there are simliarties between every other asian culture that crossover.

Yeah, some of my friends from Hawaii talk about how I'd be right at home with all the other 'happas.' Especially Japanese-American mixes, like me!

But there are a surprising number of 'happas' even here in the Washington DC area--and of course many where I grew up in Northern California...

Roman, I agree with being a double, although I am biologically Filipino. I am at least bi-cultural and I feel expanded rather than limited by that.

Question for you all--what things in life do you think "mark" you as Asian? Food you eat? Clothes you wear? Values slightly different from most of your peers? Your preference in men/women?

For me I believe that what sets me apart the most is my mindset and upbringing. My parents drilled in me discipline and respect, not just to my elders but to all things. So I always try and do whats right I guess. I think respect is something that's really lacking among a lot of people nowadays....

I have a compleatly different wiew of the cultural aspect.

Being adopted I was raised in a white family with sweedish traditions and morals.

I think that it my appreciation for my heritage and the history of where I was born.

What biological ethnicity (is there such a thing?) are you?

To answer my own questions:
I think I am Filipina based also on my values. We emphasize family and togetherness over money and independence. Also I like to cook simple Filipino dishes as long as I can get the right ingredients. I have a rice cooker (grin). I tend to read about 50% books by Asians (mostly Filipinos) and the rest by non-Asians.

Back home, young people use terms like "ho" and "po" to address their elders with respect. My family doesn't do that, but there is still implicit respect for elders.

I dress moderately, neither conservative nor provocative, but that might have more to do with my generation.

I'm white, but have been mostly attracted to Asian men since I was a teenager. The penis size thing is a myth. The smallest men I've been with have been white.

I settled on (and married) a Filipino. Something about that Spanish/American blood they have mixed in that gives them a chance at being tall and big.

And yes. Filipinos are Asian. If they wish, they can call themselves Pacific Islanders, too.

Awww, AFM, I was going to say something earlier, but it would reveal too much about my sexual experience, LOL! BUT from my first hand sampling of Asian male genitalia, I would have to say that size is more than adequate. Daisie, welcome to the thread. I'm married to a Filipino man myself and I'm sure it'snot just the Spanish blood, but he is one of the most passionate--horizontally and vertically.
