There's a fried apple pie?

Mind = blown

I think it's a country thing. My Grandma used to dry her apples. She then fried them in a skillet with butter , sugar and some spices. Made a pastry dough which she scooped the fried apples into. Folded the dough over and pinched the edges. Then deep fry until a golden brown. Make your mouth water.

The original McDonald's Hot Apple Pies (and cherry, which I miss) were deep fried. Apparently, some McD's in the US still serve those. I think the CNE here in Toronto also has those every year.

All this talk of food has made me a bit hungry. Luckily, my dinner is almost ready.

You can use fresh apples for fried apple pies too.

Rush's in Columbia still has the hot apple pies like McDonalds. They also make a sundae wit the hot apple pie.

McDonalds here also has a strawberry creme pie. And they usually do pumpkin in Oct-Nov

They vary them here. Often apple, sometimes blueberry, then varying others. Some have been nauseating - a caramel pie, for example. Bleahh - too much sugar. I like the strawberry rhubarb. But I haven't seen cherry in decades (which was my favorite)

I liked the cherry and the apple, but man were they hot.

An ex-girlfriend worked at Rush's and would sometimes bring the leftover hot apple pies (and other food) home after closing. Good eating at about 1:00 in the morning.

We don't have Rush's here in Canada, so I will have to take your word for it. Hard to get hot food these days in a restaurant. Most of it is now "warm".

Our favorite Chinese fast food is so hot that we have to let our plates sit for a few before you can eat. And then we leave the lids of the main containers to let it cool a bit more. We can't even figure out how they can get it that hot.

Ling, you totally rock !!!

Heck with a slice I want the whole pie. Yup I want a taste of ling's pie:)

Washout here. Rain and more rain. Hi's going to stay 70 ish. I got a PM this morning that reminded me of someone I miss .......

wow, SSN. every time you change your AV you get hotter and sexier....
How is that possible?

Neak good morning and thank you !!

Now that is what a girl needs to hear to kick start her day. Either that or him ordering her back to bed

Ling, that pie looks good, even better with that scoop of ice cream.

NRSE, back to bed.

Nice to see all of you and hope your Friday is a good one. Even a few new faces - that is always good.

Not much on my plate today, likely another trip to get some more laundry done.

Pie a la mode was created in Cambridge NY
Potato chips - originally called Saratoga chips - were created in Saratoga Springs NY

Both places under an hour from where I sit now!

NOTHING was created here. The environment sucks away your will to live.

~sigh~

Okay, not true. One of our former Prime Ministers was born here and the very first recycling program IN THE WORLD (the Blue Boxex) started here. And there was a famous, record holding comic book creator that did his book here.

But - no Pie.

Seeing as how large Ontario is, this list is probably all over the place but the list is three pages long and alphabetical order.

The list actually missed a few I knew about. Wanted to submit one - an actor who was born here and was in a long-running US TV drama - but it wouldn't let me. Yeesh.

This particular actor has a small bit of history, he used to hit on my (now ex) sister-in-law back when they were teens (she dated my brother from the age of 14 on(. She worked as a lifeguard at the local pool right around the corner.

Both Bieber and Sarah Chalke once lived fairly close to my town as well.

Dukes Mayonnaise is from my area. And a beautiful actress from Groundhog Day Andie McDowell is from Gaffney !

Hello and hugs to Ydahecnot. A little NRSE trivia. A special friend sees all of my AV and Profile pics before I have shared them. He's even been texted several which never made it to the public eye. For his eyes only 💋
