Those internet rumors appear to possess more truth than Lankford. The numbers allowed per day are even worse than in the leaked details of the bill.

The bill would allow up to 8,500 migrants to cross the border in a single day without triggering the declaration of an emergency.

Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) went as far as claiming Russian disinformation was behind these “rumors.”

“I suspect that a lot of the internet rumors are very well coming from overseas, where they would love to see this shut down because some people would rather not see funding for Ukraine,” he said.

That's not what the bill does. it stops allowing asylum claims after 5000/day. There are already far more than that daily.

It would also expedite asylum cases and provide mechanisms for stopping all processing between ports of entry.

It tightens up requirements for asylum and adds tighter restrictions for parole (i.e.catch and release)

But as usual, the right obfuscates what the law does.

This is not an amnesty bill nor does it allow unfettered crossings in any way.

More border security funding
Faster and immediate pre processing to weed out cheaters
More border tech
More border officials
Work permits for those who pass screening - so they can get jobs eliminating need for taxpayer support
Multiple asylum reforms leading to tougher requirements

Those wanting asylum to be eliminated outside of ports of entry missed the court challenges when that has been tried before. (I.e. not gonna work)

I included the Border.Patrol.reactions because more than one rightie member here on the ole forum (and Twitter) mentioned to me how they "know a border.patrol.agent" who "always tells them" about their "hatred of Biden's policies"

I don't know any agents nor would I lie and say I did to make a point .....so I'll just let them speak for themselves.

(Edit: if someone uses Gboard (Samsung Galaxy) and can tell me why it inserts periods randomly and then completely changes words after the fact, I'd appreciate whatever configuration changes I can make. Every single time I think I've found the issue, it ends up not being the case)
