If your going to have a family with someone they don't approve of, then you have to accept that they will no longer be a part of your life. And yes, I've accepted the fact that if I make certain decisions, my family will not accept them and do everything in their power to change/undermine those decisions.

Do I let that fact dictate my life? No.
