The Miss USA pageant is on tonight. I always watched those as a kid and felt that Miss America was for the smart, talented girls. When Miss USA and Miss Universe started it seemed that those were more for the pretty girls.

Agree?

And no offense to you Hoosiers, but why on earth is this taking place in Gary, Indiana? I'd be kind of ticked off if I were a contestant considering they are usually held in more glamorous places.

Do you still watch these shows? Do you pick the finalists? Why do people protest and cry 'exploitation of women'? I mean it seems pretty straightforward to me. And harmless.

(The only thing I might object to is the concept of starting them off as young children-like Jon-Benet Ramsey)

Two words: Donald Trump. That bad-haired, aging icon of the Me Decade owns the Miss USA pageant and a major casino-hotel property in, of all places, Gary, Indiana. Who'd have thought?

Thumper thanks for the vote of confidence but I have to say that instead of Miss USA or Miss Congeniality, I imagine all I could win is either "Miss Matched" (boobs) or if I entered the birthday suit competition, I bet I could win a prize for most wrinkled! LOL

Thomas, thanks for the answer. I knew he owned the pageants but I had no idea he had property there. Makes sense. Another question for you though- I thought Indiana only had riverboat casinos. So I guess that means Gary is near water. Is it on Lake Michigan?

I used to watch them in awe when i was a little girl ...

but the older i grew the more flawed the contests seemed ...

and jeez the girls always have the biggest teeth ...

and i hate the stupid answers they give like "I want to make the world a better place to live in for all mankind" ... ha ha ...

and OMG the worst show was Who Wants to Marry Millionare? ... talk about exploitation lol ... but i guess one thing you could say about that Darva "Cuntger" was that she sure as hell turned the tables around ... used it to her advantage ... i can't stand her ...

I don't care if those girls think or not (I'm guessing not), it's still degrading to girls who are overweight or maybe not as pretty as they want to be. If you want to be a hood ornament with rehearsed lines.... go for it; it's whatever makes you happy in the end.
